  <p>This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and energetic Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to work in the A &amp; E of Mental Health. You will be working in a very dynamic environment, which will provide you with many opportunities to learn and develop your therapeutic and systemic skills. There will also be an opportunity to be creative and innovative within the role, bringing new ideas, incorporating evidence-based practice into how the service is delivered.</p>
<p>You will support and assist the core aims within the service, both in direct clinical work and as a positive member of the multi-disciplinary team and wider service, having an important strategic and liaison function supporting the transition of patients between services.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <ul>
<li>You will provide psychological assessment and treatment within a multi-disciplinary team and offer consultation and treatment for our more complex cases.</li>
<li>You will offer clinical supervision to assistant psychologists and trainees, as well as Band 7 Psychologists and our multi-disciplinary colleagues.</li>
<li>There will be an opportunity to take a lead role in service development-oriented research and publishing research.</li>
<li>To ensure the clinical effectiveness of own practice and of service functioning by undertaking research and development activities relevant to the service area</li>
<li>To be regularly responsible for providing training placements for trainee clinical/counselling psychologists in this specialism.</li>
<li>To undertake high quality direct (assessment and therapeutic) and indirect (consultative, advisory and evaluative) specialist psychology interventions in these services taking substantial professional responsibility and exercising autonomous judgement in their professional practice.</li>

  <p>This is a community-based post, located within the CAMHS in Social Care Team (CISC) here in Tower Hamlets. The team are based across the CAMHS Emanuel Miller Centre in Limehouse as well as the Local Authority Town Hall in Whitechapel. The CiSC team offers accessible, flexible, timely and responsive CAMHS input to children, young people and their families who are subject to Social Care plans (LAC, CP or CIN).</p> <p>It is a multidisciplinary team offering consultation to Social Worker and the wider children's workforce as well as assessment, care planning and clinical intervention to the children and families that they work with where there are mental health concerns. The post holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management and will be required to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit.</p>

<h2>Job summary</h2>
  <p>We have an exciting opportunity for<strong>two</strong> full time, permanent, band 7 clinical or counselling psychologists to join Barts Heart and Thorax Centre Psychological Services based at St Bartholomew's Hospital.</p> <p>The successful applicant will join a friendly and supportive group of psychological professionals at St Bartholomew's Hospital including practitioner psychologists and an art therapist. You will be able to access funded CPD and receive specialist group supervision (e.g. ACT, CFT, Narrative therapy and EMDR) alongside individual supervision.</p> <p>We operate within a mixed model, i.e. embedded within medical teams with centralised referral allocation and discussion so that workload can be shared evenly between clinicians and allocated according to skill mix and case complexity. The band 7 postholder will pick up referrals from specialist teams across the Barts Heart Centre and will work closely with the clinical pathway leads as well as the consultant service lead, allowing for a good balance of autonomy and support in line with their stage in career development. These posts are varied and exciting roles with lots of opportunity for service development and research as well as providing specialist psychological input through direct work (with inpatients and outpatients) and indirect work through consultation to the wider multidisciplinary team.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>Barts Heart and Thorax Centre (BHTC) Psychological Services is for with adult patients and their families who live with an acute or chronic cardiac or respiratory condition and those who require a critical care admission (predominantly cardio-thoracic and cancer related). </p> <p>Specifically these patients are under the care of specialist multidisciplinary teams within the Barts Heart and Thorax Centre, including the Congenital Cardiology Service, the Heart Attack Centre (HAC); the Adult Critical Care Unit (ACCU); Heart Failure, Electrophysiology, and Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions. </p> <p>Although the post holder will not be directly working with the following teams these are also covered by the broader service: Difficult Asthma and Cystic Fibrosis. Our Southend, Essex and Thurrock services cover 144 schools currently. We currently cover 48% of secondary and primary school within those areas.</p> <p>The MHST deliver evidence-based individual and group interventions in educational settings for children experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties aged 4 to 18 years old. The teams also have a strong focus on whole school approaches to improve mental health outcomes for children and young people.</p> <p>The MHSTs build on the support already in place from school counsellors, nurses, educational psychologists and the voluntary sector to support those with mild to moderate mental health issues in school and will help children and young people with more severe needs to access the right support and provide a link to the CAMHS services.</p>

   <p>The post holder will be a care coordinator, assessing and treating children and young people in the team working in collaboration with the multiple disciplinary teams (MDT). The post holder will also be involved in supporting and advising parents and carers of C&amp;YP referred to the service as well as offering consultation and advice to their professional networks.
