Our Linked Minds Befriending Project supports people in the London boroughs of Ealing and Hounslow who are socially isolated due to a diagnosed mental health problemOn successful completion of the training, including mental health training, the Volunteer Befriender is matched with someone suitable, by a Co-ordinator who then acts as a (non-clinical) supervisor for the befriending period, which is limited to a year.Befriender, client and supervisor make a plan together with a goal to work towards, and the Befriender makes a weekly 1-2 hour visit to the client’s home, where they might stay in and chat over a cup of tea, go out for a walk together, visit a café or undertake a local activity.&nbsp;These visits make such a difference for the client, increasing their confidence and helping them explore and work towards getting a job, joining a club, meeting other people or whatever their goal may be.The aim is that, by the end of the year, clients feel better about themselves, more valued, resilient, empowered, more linked to their community and better equipped for their journeys in recovery.But volunteering with BEfriend not only enriches the lives of those who are isolated, it also offers immense personal rewards.As a Befriender, you’ll get to know inspirational people with fascinating stories, develop new skills and be part of a supportive team that values compassion and connection.

Area Manager: Lewisham and Southwark

<h3>The Role: Referrals Networker</h3>Do you enjoy meeting people, building relationships, and championing causes that make a real difference?We’re looking for a Referrals Networker to be the vital link between Read Easy and the local community. In this role, you’ll connect with local organisations and services to make sure adults who struggle with reading — as well as potential volunteers — know about the life-changing support we offer.This is a role for someone who loves reaching out, building trust, and ensuring no one is left behind because of reading challenges.<h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Build strong relationships with local partners such as libraries, job centres, housing associations, GP surgeries, and adult education providers.</li><li>Raise awareness of Read Easy’s free one-to-one reading coaching and encourage referrals of both readers and volunteers.</li><li>Represent Read Easy at local events, community meetings, and networking opportunities.</li><li>Identify new referral routes and creative ways to reach adults who need support.</li><li>Maintain an up-to-date contact list and track referral outcomes.</li><li>Gather feedback to help the team strengthen community connections.</li></ul><h3>Time commitment</h3>This position is flexible and can mainly be done at times that suit you. Between 2 to 4 hours a week, depending on how much time you can spare.&nbsp;This role is performed mainly online at home using a provided MS 365 Office account, role email, MS Teams, telephone and text.&nbsp; Visits to local organisation will be required.&nbsp;<h3>What We’re Looking For</h3><ul><li>A confident communicator who enjoys engaging with individuals and groups.</li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, lasting partnerships.</li><li>A genuine interest in supporting the local community.</li><li>Enthusiasm, empathy, and reliability.</li><li>(Some experience or awareness of the charity sector is helpful, but not essential.)</li></ul><h3>What You’ll Gain</h3>Volunteering as a Referrals Networker is a rewarding way to make a direct and lasting impact in your community. Our clinics provide outstanding private healthcare to clients across South-West London, offering a wide range of services from Physiotherapy and Orthopaedics to Dermatology and GP services. As a receptionist in our flagship clinic, you will be the face and voice of our new Spire Wimbledon clinic. Acting as an extension of the firm’s brand and core values, the purpose of this role is to welcome patients to the clinic and support them through their treatment, whilst undertaking all administrative tasks required to ensure the smooth running of our Private Department and clinic. This is a great opportunity to work with a committed team of professionals who are passionate about helping people and offering excellent service. The receptionist position is viewed as an integral role within our team. &nbsp; Whilst covering the reception area, you will ensure that all reception tasks are completed daily, and patients are greeted with a friendly, professional approach. You will also be required to send reports to 3rd party referrers and consultants within strict time frames.
