Newly Qualified Psychologist

<h2>Job summary</h2>
  <p>We are looking for a highly motivated Bank Band 6 physiotherapist to support the rehabilitation service at Farnham hospital. The role is comprised of 2 x 9-month rotations.</p><ul> <li>Inpatient Stroke Rehabilitation on Runfold ward, with some additional care of the elderly/neuro rehabilitation</li> <li>Split 60:40 neuro outpatients and community rehabilitation.</li></ul><p>You will be working as part of the multidisciplinary team working to provide rehabilitation for a wide range of neurological conditions. These patients may have acute or chronic neurological impairments often with complex presentations. In the inpatient stroke rehabilitation setting there will also be some input into Older peoples Rehabilitation .</p><p>You will be supported in the role by team leads who will steer the development of your role and clinical skills.</p><p>We actively participate in clinical supervision, in-service training and have an appraisal system to help develop you personally and your CPD. We also have a wide range of on-line training programmes to support your personal development. We support Band 5 physiotherapists on rotation and students from London and more local universities.</p><p>Base</p><p>Runfold ward, Farnham Hospital, Hale Road, Farnham, Surrey, GU9 0QS</p><p>The service operates Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 4:30pm with the occasional weekend and bank holiday working requirement.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>As a Bank Band 6 Physiotherapist you will:</p><ul> <li>To deliver high quality evidence-based treatment and rehabilitation to support the management of patients with a range of conditions.</li> <li>To maintain accurate records in line with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy standards and Trust and service standards and policies.</li> <li>To communicate effectively with all disciplines involved in patient care, both within the organisation and those outside to ensure effective multidisciplinary working. This will include discussion of patient care, patient progress and involvement in discharge planning.</li> <li>To be able to communicate complex and sensitive information to patients, carers and other staff which may include imparting unwelcome news.</li> <li>Maintain confidentiality at all times</li> <li>Assess patients understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.</li> <li>To have knowledge of and ability to use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with patients. <p>You must be adaptable and be prepared to work evenings and weekends as part of seven-day service delivery.</p>

<p>What you will be doing Reporting to the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of delivering strategic and clinical strategies to grow and further develop the care pathway through specialist psychological advice and consultations. You will lead and oversee the specialised psychological programme and the transdisciplinary team where you will provide supervision and training to your peers to ensure they understand the concepts and principles underpinning the framework and the specialised skills required to work successfully within this service model. You will have experience and knowledge in carrying a designated caseload, including assessing service users with complex needs, and designing and delivering specialist psychological treatment within mental health care services.</p>

<p><strong>As a Senior Clinical/Forensic Psychologist you will be:</strong></p>

    <li>Autonomous in managing your own caseload, which will involve working with complex service-users.</li>
    <li>Attending regular clinical and service development meetings, such as MDT’s, CPA’s, referrals, and other hospital-wide meetings</li>
    <li>An integral part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team on the two PICU’s</li>
    <li>Providing both long &amp; short-term work, which includes being able to undertake clinical assessments to determine clinical needs &amp; treatment plans.</li>
    <li>Providing both individual and group work to the patients.</li>
    <li>Maintaining monthly clinical supervision as well as regular line-management supervision</li>
    <li>Providing clinical supervision to nursing staff/therapy staff as appropriate and facilitating in the provision of reflective practice.</li>
    <li>Providing both written &amp; verbal contributions to MDT &amp; CPA process</li>
    <li>Supporting the MDT in the development and review of care plans</li>
    <li>Offering specialist clinical advice including the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care within the service</li>
    <li>Contributing to professional development within the team</li>
    <li>Contributing to teaching as part of Induction/mandatory training.</li>
    <li>Contributing to audit and research as directed by the line manager</li>

<p><strong>To be successful in this role, you'll need:</strong></p>
<ul>
    <li>BPS accredited and HCPC approved Doctorate.</li>
    <li>Have HCPC Registration.</li>
    <li>Chartered Member of the BPS.</li>
    <li>Evidence of engagement in mental health networks.</li>
    <li>Post-doctoral level knowledge and application of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis.</li>
    <li>Experience in using psychological models and theories to address a range of risk and behavioural issues.</li>

<p>Location: Thornford Park, Crookham Hill, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG19 8ET</p>
<p>Thornford Park Hospital, part of Elysium Healthcare, is an independent 143 bedded hospital set in 23 acres of parkland on the outskirts of Newbury, Berkshire (close to the Hampshire borders).</p>
<p>We provide services for male and female patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) who require care in conditions of medium and low security. Our service users, many of whom have forensic histories, require long-term treatment and rehabilitation and present with multiple problems, challenging and high-risk behaviour and complex care needs. In addition to the mental health wards, Thornford Park has a 14-bedded low secure service for male patients with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, commissioned by NHS England, a medium/low secure service for females with a Learning Disability, and a medium secure service for males with Learning Disability. We also have two Psychiatric Intensive Care Units, one for males and one for females, providing holistic assessment and treatment for individuals experiencing crisis.</p>
