You will be working on our inpatient CAMHS and EDU ward.

Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal, Stockport is an inpatient mental health service for young people and adults. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes along Wilmslow Road and Cheadle Hulme and East Didsbury railway stations approximately 1-2 miles from the service.

What you'll be doing

The Consultant Psychologist will work closely with the Head of Psychology in delivering the strategic direction of the service to the hospital director/director of services/medical director. The Consultant Psychologist will ensure both the professional psychological practice and quality of the psychology department, to ensure excellence in patient experience and outcomes. You will contribute to the development of audit of services at your site and more broadly when required and asked by your Head of Psychology. You will be required to support the development and delivery of behavioural and other psychological interventions for patients and service users and provide appropriately developed psychologically informed guidance to reduce risks, aid recovery and independence. You will also provide consultation to the Head of Psychology and Senior Managers as required, and work within clinical and research governance initiatives.

What you'll bring to the role

Essential:

Relevant Masters degree

HCPC Registration required

The ideal candidate will have a confident grasp of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) along with proficiency in at least two other therapeutic modalities, one of which should include training in interventions suitable for working with location specific or relevant clinical disorders. They should demonstrate a solid understanding and application of therapeutic principles, with a willingness to undertake additional training if not already completed. Experience in working with complex clients and delivering highly specialist interventions is essential, as is the ability to operate at a strategic level. Training in clinical supervision, as well as experience in conducting assessments relevant to the specific environment and population, is required. Additionally, the candidate should bring leadership and management experience, alongside proven skills in service planning and development.
