You will work closely with varying stakeholders within the region, including the PROSPECT Provider Collaborative.
Post holder will support the provision of psychology services in a specified area, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and under the direction and supervision of a Senior/Principal/Consultant or Lead Psychologist. You will maintain high quality ensuring adherence to national guidelines, legislation, organisational protocols and play a key role in Psychology service development through an evidence-based approach.
As a registered psychologist you will participate fully with the multidisciplinary team and stakeholders as part of the project work. You will review processes, guidelines and standards to help guide service user engagement in their care pathway and will be under the supervision and management of the clinical director. You will support clinical team working, including support for interventions and training programmes. You will be an innovative thinker, developing new initiatives and ways of working, whilst working closely with internal/ external agencies to enhance treatment pathways for service users.

What you will be doing

 <li>To provide knowledge and experience of supporting the provision of psychology services in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams</li>
 <li>To support and advise on psychological assessments of patients based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological (and neuropsychological) tests</li>
 <li>To support and advise implementation of formulating plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of service users mental health problems based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the patient’s problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.</li>
 <li>To support and advise on implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models.</li>
 <li>To provide guidance in ensuring Psychology practices in the specified area of service maintains the highest standards of professional practice and ethics, complying with clinical governance standards at all times.</li>

To be successful in this role, you will have:
<ul>
 <li>Successful completion of a Doctorate level qualification in applied psychology either through the British Psychological Society or a recognised training body, enabling registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist.</li>
 <li>Experience (either pre-training, on training, or subsequently) of working with clients with complex needs that are relevant to the population in the service area. This can include learning difficulty, neurodiversity and complex trauma.</li>
 <li>Experience of providing clinical supervision to Assistant and trainee Psychologists, as directed by the Lead Psychologist</li>
 <li>Experience in assessing, formulating and working therapeutically with patients in the service area.</li>

Thornford Park Hospital, part of Elysium Healthcare, is an independent 143 bedded hospital set in 23 acres of parkland on the outskirts of Newbury, Berkshire (close to the Hampshire borders).
We provide services for male and female patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) who require care in conditions of medium and low security. Our service users, many of whom have forensic histories, require long-term treatment and rehabilitation and present with multiple problems, challenging and high-risk behaviour and complex care needs. In addition to the mental health wards, Thornford Park has a 14-bedded low secure service for male patients with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, commissioned by NHS England, a medium/low secure service for females with a Learning Disability, and a medium secure service for males with Learning Disability. We also have two Psychiatric Intensive Care Units, one for males and one for females, providing holistic assessment and treatment for individuals experiencing crisis

Whilst your clinical practice is likely to include some remote working, you will be required to attend one of the service area offices for part of the week. You will provide High Intensity CBT interventions recommended by NICE to clients with moderate to severe common mental health disorders and will receive weekly supervision provided by both the university and the workplace.
