<p>You'll be joining an established, supportive Multidisciplinary Team providing rehabilitation to people with neurological conditions in their own homes. We work across the Community Neuro Rehabilitation Service and the Early Supported Discharge for Stroke service, helping patients regain independence and achieve the goals that matter most to them.</p>
<p>The Therapy Assistant role is pivotal, and you will work closely together with all of the other team members to support patients' rehabilitation, manage their neurological condition and achieve their goals.</p>
<p>As part of the role, you'll visit patients in their homes and in community settings, so access to your own vehicle is essential. After a thorough induction, you'll deliver rehabilitation and education sessions both independently and alongside other team members. Your day-to-day work will be varied and tailored to each patient's needs.</p>
<p>You'll be joining a team with a wealth of specialist knowledge, links and experience, and you'll have plenty of opportunities to learn new skills and develop within neurological rehabilitation.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>

<p><strong>A team of neuro rehabilitation specialists assisting people to manage their neurological condition and achieve their goals, in their chosen environment, aiming towards greater independence in everyday life.</strong></p>

  <p></p><p><strong>An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic therapy team. We are looking for a part time position (3 days a week) for a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant within our Adult SLT Service. We work with patients in their own homes, in clinics at inpatient neuro-rehabilitation and in Lister Hospital.</strong></p>
<p>The post-holder will need to be organised, enthusiastic, a good communicator and will have previous experience in a rehabilitation or care delivery setting. You will be assisting in the rehabilitation of patients with a wide range of neurological needs (including physical, communication and cognitive) which may include both individual sessions and group work. You will be working closely with the Speech and Language Therapists and a wider MDT including the medical team, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Nurses. You will need to be able to keep accurate clinical records and have good clerical/ administrative skills.</p>

  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p></p><p>The post-holder will be responsible for supporting Speech and Language Therapists with the assessment and management of adults with acquired communication, speech, language or eating and drinking disorders.</p>
<p>You will carry out therapy plans with patients who may have a range of diagnoses including stroke, Parkinson's, dementia, Motor Neuron disease and other progressive neurological conditions. You will need to build excellent rapport with patients and providing them with a high level of care.</p>
<p>You will need to be able to keep accurate clinical records and have good clerical/ administrative skills.</p>
<p>You will support the team with resource building, such as low tech augmentative and alternative communication aids (AAC).</p>
<p>You will help to run communication groups alongside other SLTAs.</p>
<p>The Speech and Language Therapy Service in East &amp; North Hertfordshire is an integrated acute and community service covering community clinics, inpatient Neurological Rehabilitation and the Acute and Stroke teams based at the Lister Hospital. There are a number of posts across the whole of Central Bedfordshire. Your role will help to develop and deliver a wide range of interventions, projects and system changes with the aim of the whole community approaches to supporting young people's mental health. These are newly funded roles that are community based, whose aim is to offer an Early Intervention service for Young People whose complexities cannot be served by our 5 Mental health in Support Teams but do not reach the threshold for core CAMHS.
