  <p>The role of Senior Peer Support Worker (PSW) has been developed specifically for people who have lived experience of recovery from mental health challenges and experience of professionally utilising these experiences within mental health settings as Peer Support Workers. Through sharing wisdom from their own experiences, Peer Support Workers inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others. In the context of Eating Disorder Service, the Senior Peer Support Worker will, with guidance from the Trust-wide Lived Experience Leadership Team and Senior Peer Support Workers, facilitate and support the governance and development of Peer Support Worker roles. The role will include inputting into the development and sustainability of Peer Support Worker posts, including role definition.The role will encompass a clinical caseload and the co facilitation of group work to deliver support to those individuals accessing Eating Disorder Community Mental Health Services within MPFT.The Senior PSW will be actively involved in the recruitment of Peer Support Workers (PSW) locally and co-facilitate a range of Trust-wide learning and development opportunities, including delivery of the accredited training and workshops. The post holder will provide high quality individual supervision to Peer Support Workers working within eating disorders community mental health services, and group supervision to Peer Support Workers across the Trust.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>To provide high quality individual supervision to Peer Support Workers in eating disorder community services within the allocated location.</p>
<p>To be actively involved in the process of recruitment of Peer Support Workers including being on interview panels.</p>
<p>To proactively engage and work with a range of internal services including Human Resources and Occupational Health to ensure robust processes are in operation for the recruitment and maintenance of wellbeing of the Peer Support Workers.</p>
<p>To effectively co-deliver training, including the accredited 'Developing Expertise in Peer Support', 'Peer Support Worker Team Preparation' sessions in readiness for peer support workers taking up post within teams; and learning and development activities within the Recovery College.</p>
<p>To maintain professional relationships with particular attention to confidentiality and the maintenance of boundaries.</p>
<p>Develop stronger links and working partnerships with a range of external agencies including other NHS Trusts employing Peer Support Workers and voluntary organisations.</p>
<p>To promote the benefits of employment for those with 'lived experience' of overcoming mental health challenges.</p>
<p>To challenge any inequalities and to address discrimination whilst ensuring a process of learning for the organisation.</p>

Key responsibilities may include:</p><ul> <li>Managing acute episodes and responding to mental health crises, de-escalating aggressive or high-risk behaviour.</li><li>Offering therapeutic support such as one-to-one counselling, group therapy, or cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).</li><li>Developing and monitoring individualised care plans to support emotional and mental well-being.</li><li>Advocating for patient rights, ensuring dignity and respect in every interaction.</li><li>Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive and compassionate care.</li><li>Assessing and monitoring at-risk patients for signs of suicidal ideation or self-harm, intervening swiftly to ensure safety.</li></ul> <p><strong>What We Need From You</strong></p><ul> <li>A current and unrestricted NMC registration.</li><li>At least six months of UK-based paid experience.</li><li>The right to work in the UK.</li><li>Trained in ILS and CPI/MAPA</li><li>A good standard of English and effective communication skills.</li><li>Flexibility to travel as required.</li></ul> <p><strong>About Nurseplus</strong></p><p>At Nurseplus, our mission is to make a positive impact and change lives every day.
