 Are you an autonomous Mental Health Nurse looking for a new role in the historic market town of Witney, West Oxfordshire? Do you have extensive experience of working in mental health services and understand the challenges that the Adult care group can bring? North and West AMHT have an opportunity for a Band 6 RMN to be part of a well established Multi disciplinary Team on a full time basis. We are a supportive team which although busy has many rewards. We care deeply about our patients and their families and carers. We believe in listening and responding as a team, piloting new models, supporting each other and developing and using new care approaches. We aim to improve patient care as well as provide increase staff satisfaction and sense of achievement. The team is highly supportive and committed to delivering high quality patient care; where the caseload can be demanding, diverse and frequently complex. Our AMHT provide an assessment and treatment function and the staff working within the team work on a rota covering shifts from 07.00 to 21.00 (7 days/week). The successful candidate will be required to work mainly 9-5 Monday to Friday however there is an expectation that there is flexibility to cover the out of hours shifts when required. The post holder will need to be able to travel around the county, to offer interventions to patients and carers. The area is quite rural with limited public transport, so access to transport is essential.



 <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
 <ul> <li>Working within the treatment function of the AMHT you will co-ordinate the care for patients with severe and enduring mental health diagnosis.</li> <li>You will work autonomously, with a caseload of patients with whom you will engage and offer the recommended treatment and support.</li> <li>You will have experience of providing community mental health care and able to assess and plan treatment with service users. You will also be able to assess and manage risk, including use of Safeguarding processes.</li> <li>There are opportunities for team working and facilitating groups such as MBT/CBT based interventions. The MDT consists of medics, psychological therapists, social workers, OTs, RMNs and support workers, as well as embedded workers from the third sector to support with employment, housing and social needs. </li> </ul>

What you will be doing
You will work 37.5 hours a week as the Senior Psychologist for a service that offers (Neuro-Forensic Acquired Brain Injury rehabilitation for adult males).
In collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and under the direction and supervision of the Joint Heads of Psychology, you will support the delivery of psychology services across St Mary’s Hospital. In the absence of the Joint Heads, you will act as the primary point of contact between the psychology department and the senior management team.
As the Senior Psychologist you will have active participation in multidisciplinary team work, ensuring that our service users are fully engaged in their care pathways. It also includes supporting clinical team efforts through both direct interventions and the facilitation of staff training programmes. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of new initiatives and ways of working within the service and working in partnership with both internal and external agencies to enhance treatment pathways for service users.
There is a strong emphasis on teamwork, supervision and CPD, with support from a regional network of Psychologists.
As a Senior Psychologist you will be:
<ul>
 <li>Providing psychological assessments of patients based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological (and neuropsychological) tests, self-report measures, rating scales direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the patient’s care.</li>
 <li>Formulating plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of acquired brain injury and forensic risk designed around the patient’s needs, and employing methods unpinned by relevant evidence-based practice and appropriate conceptual frameworks.</li>
 <li>Implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals within and across teams.</li>
 <li>Acting as psychologist for a ward and/or group of patients as directed by the Joint Heads of Psychology.</li>
 <li>Developing and managing groupwork programmes and innovative therapeutic approaches and ensuring that appropriate outcome measures are in place.</li>
 <li>Taking a key role in Psychology service developments, providing an evidence-based approach to new clinical initiatives.</li>

To be successful as a Senior Psychologist, you'll have:

 <li>Successful completion of a Doctorate level qualifcation in applied psychology (clinical, forensic, counselling) either through the British Psychological Society or a recognised training body, enabling registration with the HCPC as as Practitioner Psychologist.</li>
 <li>Experience (either pre-training, on training, or subsequently) of working with clients with complex needs that are relevant to the service population. This can include forensic, neuropsychological rehabilitation, learning difficulty, neurodiversity and complex trauma.</li>
 <li>Competency in psychological assessment and formulation skills and an aptitude for learning new assessment methods including standardised cognitive assessment (WAIS, RBANS etc)</li>

Our Step Up service in Yeovil, Somerset, provides short term support to individuals experiencing acute mental health crisis. The service is accessible to adults aged 18 and above, and has 6 beds with communal areas such as kitchen and lounge. The service is registered with CQC and staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days a week and staff work in partnership with Somerset Foundation NHS Trust. As a Mental Health Recovery/Support Worker you will: offer people affected by mental illness the support and help they need to regain their confidence and get involved in everyday social and workplace activities.
