As a College Counselor at BASIS International &amp; Bilingual Schools Chengdu, you will be responsible for teaching a daily college counseling workshop to 12th graders, completing college counseling reports, and serving as the Senior Research Project (SRP) coordinator. Croydon Drop In (CDI) are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Student Volunteer Counsellors on Placement to work within our award-winning Voluntary Sector services. The post-holder will work within our safeguarding protocols to provide safe interventions for children and young people using evidence-based methodologies. The post holder will safely work with people across different cultural backgrounds and ages and will be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. 
Our team is supported by student practitioners completing their final year of their practitioner studies.
Please note:
Counselling training providers usually require you to obtain a certain amount of client contact hours with adults i.e. 18 years plus, therefore it’s important to note that the majority of clients accessing our CDI counselling services are under 18 years of age. As a student placement provider, CDI makes for an ideal 2nd placement that will ensure you have adequate young people contact hours, largely under 18 years of age, providing you with the learning experiences you need to meet the competency requirements of your training course and provider. It is important to check with your training provider, the cap on the number of under 18 years of age clients permitted for your course.

Counsellors&nbsp;on Placement provide emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people aged 4-18 in Place2Be partner schools. As an organisation that has adopted the BACP ethical framework of good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, counsellors working within the organisation are dedicated to improving the mental health and well-being of the children they work with.
<ul type="disc">
 <li>Place2Be provides a high level of support to counsellors on placement through regular supervision, tailored training workshops and offers a well-recognised clinical placement*.</li>
 <li>We provide a comprehensive induction programme and clinical supervision is undertaken at the end of each day.</li>
 <li>We need you to be available for a minimum of one day per week to work in a therapeutic capacity with up to 3 children offering one-to-one counselling.</li>
 <li>Placements are term time only and run for one academic year. There are opportunities for you to stay with us beyond one year.</li>
 <li>You will have the opportunity to attend up to six optional workshops throughout the year which are recognised as continuing professional development time.</li>
 <li>Sessions spent with children are accepted as clinical hours towards professional accreditation, and are recognised by the BACP and UKCP.</li>
 <li>A placement is an excellent stepping stone into a job opportunity and career with Place2Be, over&nbsp;⅔&nbsp;of our clinical staff were once Counsellors on Placement.</li>
 <li>We have places available in our projects in both primary and secondary schools nationwide.</li>

*Counting your hours
All clinical hours gained on placement can be used towards accreditation with a body such as BACP and UKCP. School Counsellor / Therapist

Main Purpose of the Role: <ul> <li>Provide culturally appropriate counselling to adults in Barnet and surrounding areas.</li> <li>Recruit, support, and coordinate trainee and volunteer counsellors.</li> <li>Promote the service and raise awareness among potential users and referrers.</li> <li>Build and maintain positive working relationships with community partners and stakeholders.</li> <li>Ensure the service is delivered in line with funding agreements and organisational objectives.</li> </ul> Key Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Carry out client assessments and create tailored care/counselling plans.</li> <li>Deliver structured counselling sessions and oversee reviews and discharges.</li> <li>Allocate clients appropriately to volunteers/trainees and coordinate service rotas.</li> <li>Respond to safeguarding concerns in line with EACH s policies and local protocols.</li> <li>Engage in outreach and community events to promote the service.</li> <li>Maintain records for monitoring, evaluation, and reporting requirements.</li> <li>Support the development of the service as part of EACH s Life Therapies social enterprise.</li> <li>Ensure trainees and volunteers work in line with organisational policies and procedures.</li> <li>Participate in supervision, training, and team development.</li> </ul> This is a unique opportunity to combine direct client work with service development and coordination, helping to shape and grow a vital local resource for the community.
