Croydon Drop In (CDI) are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Qualified Volunteer Counsellor to work within our award-winning Voluntary Sector services. The post-holder will work within our safeguarding protocols to provide safe interventions for children and young people using evidence-based methodologies. The post holder will safely work with people across different cultural backgrounds and ages and will be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Counselling is delivered by experienced qualified contracted counsellors, and our team is supported by qualified volunteer counsellors who wish to give back to the community, require a stepping stone to a paid counselling role or are independently working toward increasing their client contact hours or are working toward their accreditation.
To meet the standard criteria you will:
<ul>
<li>Ba a graduate or at post graduate level in counselling or have completed a level 4 Diploma or equivalent in Therapeutic Counselling</li>
<li>Be a Registered Member or an Accredited Member of the BACP membership or equivalent with a professional standards authority (e.g. UKCP, HPC)</li>
<li>Have two years minimum duration of personal counselling or psychotherapy.</li>
<li>Commit to delivering 4 hours counselling (1 evening) per week to young people of the service</li>
<li>Have 1 years’ experience of delivering counselling in a counselling agency or similar setting</li>

Our team is supported by student practitioners completing their final year of their practitioner studies.
Please note:
Counselling training providers usually require you to obtain a certain amount of client contact hours with adults i.e. 18 years plus, therefore it’s important to note that the majority of clients accessing our CDI counselling services are under 18 years of age. As a student placement provider, CDI makes for an ideal 2nd placement that will ensure you have adequate young people contact hours, largely under 18 years of age, providing you with the learning experiences you need to meet the competency requirements of your training course and provider. It is important to check with your training provider, the cap on the number of under 18 years of age clients permitted for your course.

Consultation, co-production and inclusion are fundamental to all aspects of our work.We have many interesting opportunities for you to get involved with, some examples include:<ul><li>Working with Surrey's Virtual School, Surrey Early Education Services, the Team Around the School, Adoption Southeast and our local Mental Health Support Teams</li><li>Training Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSAs), school staff in Literacy for All approaches, school staff to support CYP experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance, school staff in the Compassionate Schools Programme and Key Adult Programme</li><li>Supervising trainee EPs, assistant EPs, ELSAs and nurture group teachers</li><li>Supporting school staff through our bookable consultations, AANTs (Analysis of Additional Needs Tool) and telephone helpline</li><li>Supporting families through multi family groups</li><li>Service development activities such as our work on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and supporting aspiring EPs</li></ul>About the RolesAs part of the Council's commitment to providing early intervention, we are looking to expand our capacity to deliver a sustainable preventative offer to schools, alongside our statutory work, and to strengthen our emotional wellbeing and mental health offer in partnership with health colleagues. We are seeking applicants who have a commitment to delivering high quality work through applied psychology.
