Counsellors&nbsp;on Placement provide emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people aged 4-18 in Place2Be partner schools. As an organisation that has adopted the BACP ethical framework of good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, counsellors working within the organisation are dedicated to improving the mental health and well-being of the children they work with.

 <li>Place2Be provides a high level of support to counsellors on placement through regular supervision, tailored training workshops and offers a well-recognised clinical placement*.</li>
 <li>We provide a comprehensive induction programme and clinical supervision is undertaken at the end of each day.</li>
 <li>We need you to be available for a minimum of one day per week to work in a therapeutic capacity with up to 3 children offering one-to-one counselling.</li>
 <li>Placements are term time only and run for one academic year. There are opportunities for you to stay with us beyond one year.</li>
 <li>You will have the opportunity to attend up to six optional workshops throughout the year which are recognised as continuing professional development time.</li>
 <li>Sessions spent with children are accepted as clinical hours towards professional accreditation, and are recognised by the BACP and UKCP.</li>
 <li>A placement is an excellent stepping stone into a job opportunity and career with Place2Be, over&nbsp;⅔&nbsp;of our clinical staff were once Counsellors on Placement.</li>
 <li>We have places available in our projects in both primary and secondary schools nationwide.</li>

All clinical hours gained on placement can be used towards accreditation with a body such as BACP and UKCP. However if you need to gain clinical hours for your course, we would strongly advise that you check with your course tutor as to whether child hours are accepted before applying. If your course does not accept child hours but you would like to gain counselling experience of working with Children and Young People, you can still apply for a Place2Be placement as a second placement.

You will be a fully qualified Counsellor, Therapist or studying towards one of these professions at the following levels:

 <li>Degree, MSc or MA in Counselling or Psychotherapy - if you are in your first year you will have relevant experience of direct work with children.</li>

It's the golden thread that runs through every leader, team and individual. The role: We are looking for a Practitioner Psychologist to join our in-house clinical team at Meadowcroft school. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver psychological assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Psychological Practice Ways of Working. This will guide your practice within an education setting and clarify your roles and responsibilities, while taking into account the requirements of your governing and professional bodies. You will be given responsibility for holding a psychological caseload, with the full support of your designated clinical supervisor and site lead, also contributing to school development, staff training and consultation as required. Essential Criteria: <ul><li>Registered with the HCPC </li><li>Doctoral level degree in Clinical/Counselling/Forensic/Educational Psychology (or equivalent if qualified prior to introduction of relevant Doctorate) </li><li>Relevant previous experience, working in related settings or with related client group </li><li>Experience of effective multi-disciplinary working (working with both clinical and non-clinical, internal and external agencies) </li><li>Experience of effectively communicating with/working with families/relatives and carers </li><li>Experience of effectively working at different systems within an organisation e.g. service development, group and individual levels. </li><li>Experience of working via a model of: 'assess, plan, do and review </li><li>Experience of effectively using consultation as a method of service delivery. </li><li>Adequate competence in all core areas of psychological practice, meets HCPC practice standards. </li><li>Knowledge of client group and their needs. </li><li>Knowledge of trauma informed practice and neuro-diversity. </li><li>Ability to develop formulations and use these to inform clinical intervention plans and recommendations for others. </li><li>Ability to develop and deliver training to different cohorts of people </li><li>Ability to write coherent and accurate clinical records, including observation records, consultation records, reports and intervention plans </li><li>Excellent communication with people on complex matters and ideas and in complex situations. </li><li>Effective IT skills, or aptitude to learn effective IT skills, to use core computer programmes and platforms. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with a range of professionals, problem solving with others to achieve excellent service development outcomes. </li><li>Ongoing evidence of CPD. </li><li>Ability to use evaluation tools to demonstrate and improve service effectiveness and outcomes. </li><li>Ability to make independent clinical decisions when necessary. </li><li>Excellent time management and organisational skills. </li><li>Ability to prioritise multiple work demands and meet work deadlines. </li><li>Undertake relevant Group induction training on commencement in post. </li><li>Commitment to the values of the organisation. </li><li>Flexible approach to working environments. </li><li>Ability and willingness to travel on company business. </li><li>Full driving licence and access to a car. </li></ul> Desirable <ul><li>Experience of working with specific client group (e.g. neuro-diverse and/or social, emotional and mental health) and setting type (e.g. schools and/or residential care). </li><li>Experience of providing supervision to others. </li><li>Working knowledge of current philosophies and principles underpinning services for those within the specific client group. </li><li>Knowledge of legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to the client group. </li><li>Post qualification training in topics related to role, service and/or client group </li><li>Training in evidence-based interventions/approaches </li></ul> Why work for us?
