It is responsible for supporting school improvement and raising standards through the implementation of ministerial policy, the development and implementation of operational level policies and the provision of a range of centralized services to support the effective management and day to day operation of schools.DES is under the leadership of a Director (DES). The work of schools is overseen and supported by a Deputy Director (Teaching &amp; Learning), Deputy Director (Operations) and a School Improvement Team which includes SSIOs, Teaching &amp; Learning Unit, Data &amp; Testing Unit, Business Services Unit, Facilities Unit, Child Protection Unit, Head of Professional Development, Customer Service Unit and HR Services, from within DES. Education is mandatory from age 5 to 17 years, which culminates in the sitting of external examinations, and a further year (Year 12) at the Cayman Islands Further Education Centre (CIFEC), as a bridge to further education or the world of work.The DES provides services to approximately 2,800 Secondary and 2,700 Primary students through one Further Education Centre, three High Schools, ten Primary Schools, and a Special School; in addition to an Education Service provision on Little Cayman. The Department of Education Services employees over 950 staff in these schools and several specialist support areas.Senior School Improvement Officers (SSIOs) form the link between the DES and the individual School Principals who are responsible for the management of a school and teaching and learning outputs delivered by the school.The post works under the immediate supervision of the SSIO SEND who reports to the Deputy Director. The post holder works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team delivering specialized services within theeducation system.The emphasis of this role is to provide counselling interventions to students who are experiencing a range of emotional and behavioural issues to enable them to achieve their full potential within the school environment and the wider community and ensure effective child protection within schools. Job description – EAP Helpline CounsellorLocation - Homebased/RemoteMain Purpose of the roleWe provide a 24/7 confidential mental health and wellbeing support service to our client’s employees nationwide. Individuals can call our helpline to speak to a qualified counsellor about issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, debt advice and family issues. You will work from the office and from home on the EAP helpline answering inbound calls and live chats to support employees and managers, providing support, psychoeducation and signposting to external agencies were appropriate. Working as part of this team you will provide confidential support to our callers.Working hours:Monday to Thursday - 09:00am to 17:30pmFriday Week 1 - 10:00am to 18:30pmFriday Week 2 - 11:00am to 19:30pmFriday Week 3 - 12:30pm to 21:00pm(require working the above shift on a rotational pattern every 3 weeks)Will need the ideal candidate to work 1 in 5 weekends as per below shift: -Weekend shifts will include a mixture of the shift patterns on a rotational pattern: -12:00 pm to 20:30pm10:00 am to 18:30pm09:00 am to 17:30pm08:00 am to 16:30pmKey Accountabilities and ResponsibilitiesUnderstand the principles of workplace counselling and a solution focused approachProvide in the moment support calls to individuals calling the helpline, signposting to appropriate external agenciesConduct telephone clinical assessments including referral for ongoing psychological and counselling supportWork to and exceed individual goals, for example, an individual goal is to support a minimum of 20 people through the helpline on a daily basis (20 calls per day)Work to and exceed team goals, for example making a call back within 2 hours to provide the best and efficient support to that individual in needBe confident in administering Psychometric ToolsProvide psychoeducation to callers to better understand their feelings and empower self-helpManage high risk calls in accordance to PAM Wellbeing’s risk policy, be confident with supporting callers with trauma and those who are at riskDeliver in the moment support and arrange follow up calls were appropriateProvide assistance and information to managers/HR when calling the helplineUpdate all information accurately on the systemProvide support through email or web functionAssist EAP Team with other administrative duties including referral workDue to the demand of mental health services the ability to work under pressure is key, with the support of your peers and the clinical management teamResponding to general service enquiries via email, assisting EAP team and peers with other duties including referral work when opportunity arisesResponding to individuals and/or referrals received into EAP email inbox and actioning to call back as requiredFlexible working approach required in supporting the needs of a 24 / 7 / 365 day per year service to meet the needs of our callers and organisations as outlined aboveWork on additional projects to support the departmentNOTE: This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities or qualifications associated with the job. University days will be hybrid training with a combination of remote and face-to-face teaching. Whilst your clinical practice is likely to include some remote working, you will be required to attend one of the service area offices for part of the week.
