This innovative course is designed to be an incubator for curiosity, purpose, and wellbeing, where students will learn to chart their own future with the support of a caring adult.&nbsp;In addition to teaching in this course, the role also includes serving as a counselor for a smaller caseload of students. Counselors at ISB:<ul><li>Identify, assess, support, and respond to student issues like (but not limited to): personal safety, academic scheduling, safeguarding, social-emotional challenges, etc.</li><li>Provide meaningful, intentional learning opportunities aligned with the practices, standards, benchmarks, and learning outcomes of the ISB curriculum, along with its Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Community of Practice</li><li>Actively participate in collaborative team meetings with a growth mindset and focus on improving learning for all students</li><li>Partner with teachers, counselors, administration, and other staff to ensure care and support for the social, emotional and learning success of students</li><li>Assess student wellbeing and/or learning and provide timely, quality feedback to support students</li><li>Adjust for students’ needs using a data informed approach</li><li>Demonstrate skill at differentiating for students needing enrichment as well as those needing support</li><li>Engage in professional development to ensure research-supported practices in the instruction and care of children are used at ISB</li><li>Communicate directly and collaboratively with parents or guardians to positively improve student learning and well-being</li><li>Positively contribute to school culture through positivity, care for others, and shared sense of purpose and community</li><li>Maintain a mindset of high expectations facilitated through systems of high support</li></ul> Other Duties:&nbsp;<ul><li>Support student participation and connection through sponsorship of a student club or non-stipended extracurricular activity</li><li>Lead teacher teams through student support conversations focused on various levels of support from Tier 1 instruction to a referral process for Tier 3 services</li><li>Host parent workshops relevant to raising adolescents and parenting strategies</li><li>Collaborate with the schoolwide counseling team on safeguarding, wellbeing response, and risk prevention</li><li>Support administration in crisis response as appropriate</li></ul>
