: We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic volunteer to bring books and stories to life for the people we support. Your role will be to make reading fun, interactive, and engaging, helping to create a love for stories through expressive reading, sound effects, and sensory books.
Key responsibilities
- Read books aloud in an engaging and animated way.
- Use different voices, sound effects, and expressions to make stories come alive.
- Incorporate interactive elements such as touch-and-feel books, props, and music.
- Encourage participation through questions, actions, or role-playing.
- Adapt storytelling to suit the needs and interests of the audience.
- Foster a positive and inclusive reading experience for all.
Training required for this role (all delivered vis e-learning)
- Safeguarding
- H&S
- Manual Handling
- How to be Eye Care Aware
- Fire Safety
- Infection Control
- Data Security and Confidentiality
- First Aid
All these courses will take approximately 40-60 minutes, apart from the First Aid which is 2 hours
