Are you a Consultant Psychiatrist with experience working with people in inpatient settings who may be treated under the Mental Health Act provisions? Are you interested / experienced in providing treatment for women who may have suffered trauma and are affected by mental disorders? If so, then join the team at Spring Wood Lodge hospital!
This permanent Consultant Psychiatrist position (37.5 hours per week) will see you join the established multidisciplinary team at Spring Wood Lodge. The service has 21 beds across two wards in a locked rehabilitation setting providing treatment for women with mental disorders including personality disorders. The wards are well supported by a full complement of multidisciplinary team.&nbsp;
You will act as a Consultant / Responsible Clinician for patients in this setting. You will have CCT in General Adult or Forensic psychiatry and experience of working with and leading multidisciplinary teams.&nbsp; You will be part of an environment that specialises in providing rehabilitation utilising positive behavioural support principles and empowering service users in their recovery.&nbsp;
Spring Wood Lodge is located in the outskirts of Leeds at Guiseley and has close links to NHS services with established care pathways. It has excellent transport links to Bradford, Leeds and is within a short distance of Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Your responsibilities will include:

 <li>Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.</li>
 <li>Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).</li>
 <li>Offering a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment of patients.</li>
 <li>Contributing to management meetings and clinical governance meetings for the services provided at the hospital, and contributing to the development of service strategy.</li>
 <li>Contributing to in-house training programmes within the services and offering supervision to other members of the multi-disciplinary team, particularly junior medical staff.</li>
 <li>Maintaining CPD and re-validation requirements, as determined by the Royal College of Psychiatrists or other relevant statutory bodies.</li>

To be successful in this role, you will:

Our Community First Responder (CFR) scheme is a life-saving partnership with local communities. As authorised volunteers CFRs form teams across Yorkshire to help reduce the number of pre-hospital deaths.Our CFRs are trained to provide life-saving treatment to patients in the vital first few minutes of an emergency until our ambulance crew arrives. If effective treatment is provided quickly, lives can be saved and disability reduced. This is especially true for heart attacks and medical conditions which have caused someone to lose consciousness.When a 999 call is received in our Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), an ambulance response is dispatched. At the same time, a CFR on-call in the area can be alerted and asked to attend the incident to ensure that help reaches the patient as quickly as possible.As our volunteers are based within the community, they may only be a minute or two away from a medical emergency and very often their role is to simply provide vital reassurance to patients and their families until the ambulance crew arrives. However, in extreme cases, such as a cardiac arrest, they can perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) to try and restart someone’s heart, which can potentially save their life.Anyone who wants to help their community can become a CFR.No previous medical experience or training is necessary, but you will need a caring attitude and be able to cope with potentially distressing situations.You need to:<ul><li>be aged 18 or over</li><li>hold a valid, full UK driving licence, with no more than three penalty points</li><li>have access to a vehicle</li><li>be prepared to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service Check</li><li>be prepared to undertake occupational health screening</li><li>be prepared to undertake our 4 day CFR course.  Attendance to Sheffield University and completion of a Practice Portfolio Under supervision, deliver online, telephone and face to face screening involving assessment of need and risk, identifying appropriate evidence- based interventions within LMWS Talking Therapies and/or signposting to other services where appropriate. To assess and support people with common mental health problems in the self- management of their recovery. To facilitate guided self- help through delivering groups/classes, via online platforms and one to one sessions. To ensure support undertaken is meaningful, respectful, promotes self-determination and in line with the individual’s goals and to utilise agreed protocols, evidence based and best-known practice wherever possible when delivering facilitated self-help. To work closely with other members of the workforce ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach. To provide a culturally sensitive and accessible service. To work to standards of proficiency identified by your professional and regulatory body and prioritising your own workload within agreed objectives. To actively contribute to the multi-disciplinary team, wider organisation and consortium as well as other agencies, working towards developing and maintaining effective clinical and corporate collaborative working relationships.  Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service (LMWS) delivers patient focusses and evidence based Talking Therapies for people with common mental health problems.

LMWS is a partnership between Leeds Community Health Care NHS Trust, Leeds GP Confederation, Leeds and York Partnership Foundation Trust, Northpoint, Inspire North, Touchstone and Women’s Counselling and Therapies Service.

The service operated a stepped care system, providing evidence based NICE guidance led interventions appropriate to the clients presenting mental health problem. These included Computerised Guided Self Help, Psychoeducation classes, CBT, EMDR, IPT, Counselling for Depression and DIT.
