You will shadow experienced team members and then be observed providing advocacy to those who are eligible for our services until you are able to pick up a caseload of your own. Although your focus will be on one particular remit of advocacy, you will receive training across the different remits of advocacy, instructed and non-instructed advocacy and safeguarding and be supported to develop a thorough understanding of the role and boundaries of advocacy. The role involves acting on the instruction of the people you support, empowering them to have a say in their situation, to understand their rights and any options open to them and supporting them towards self-advocacy. When providing non-instructed advocacy, you will ensure that the unique preferences and views of the person are taken into consideration in any decisions made by care providers.As a qualified and / or experienced independent advocate, you will provide statutory and / or non-statutory independent advocacy to those who are eligible for the service within the community or care settings. 			Join Emerald Place Clinic as a Consultant Child and Young People Psychiatrist and deliver, treat and empower young people to live a safe and independent life. 
You will join our multidisciplinary team in a 12-bed General Adolescent Inpatient Unit. The unit provides care for young people aged 13 –18 experiencing acute mental health difficulties requiring inpatient treatment. You will play a key role in clinical leadership, risk management, and therapeutic planning, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed care.
As a CYPMHS Consultant Psychiatrist, you will deliver an evidence-based and focused treatment plan to support the children and young people, and their families, as they progress through their care plans to understand eating behaviours and restore physical health.&nbsp;
You will work alongside the talented and experienced multidisciplinary team to create tailored treatment programmes to support the individual needs of each young person within a warm and nurturing environment. This will allow you to understand symptoms, patterns and origins of psychological distress.&nbsp;

Clinical Duties

 <li>Lead on formulation and treatment planning in collaboration with the MDT.</li>
 <li>Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medication in line with NICE guidelines.</li>
 <li>Conduct regular ward rounds, CPA reviews, and Mental Health Act assessments.</li>
 <li>Liaise with families, carers, and external agencies including Case managers, community CYPMHS, social care, and education providers.</li>
 <li>Provide clinical leadership in managing complex cases and safeguarding concerns.</li>

They then provide free online, one-to-one coaching to global clients who otherwise lack access to mental health care, initially promoting behaviour change (e.g., diet, sleep, reducing procrastination) and later progressing to clients experiencing depression or anxiety.<h3>About Overcome</h3>Overcome is a UK-registered charity (Charity Number: 1191308) providing online mental health coaching worldwide, particularly to underserved communities in developing countries. We are a trusted placement provider for leading universities such as UCL, Bath, and Loughborough.<h3>Internship Overview</h3>This internship is a fully remote, unpaid, full-time (~30 hours/week) role.
