Job overview

The Opportunity

We're seeking a School Counselor who can support social-emotional development, guide academic and university pathways, and contribute to a whole-school culture of wellbeing. You'll work closely with our Head of Admissions & Counseling and collaborate with teachers, families, and leadership on student support.

You Get It, Want It, and Have the Capacity If You:

  • Understand that counseling in schools is systemic—working with individuals and shaping environment

  • Want to balance responsive support (when students are struggling) with proactive programming (so fewer do)

  • Can hold confidentiality appropriately while collaborating effectively with teachers and families

  • Navigate diverse cultural backgrounds with humility and skill

Core Responsibilities (Your "Rocks")

  • Provide individual and small-group counseling for social-emotional concerns

  • Develop and deliver wellbeing curriculum and programming (aligned with RULER or similar frameworks)

  • Serve on safeguarding and student support teams

  • Partner with families and external professionals when additional support is needed

What You Bring

  • Master's degree in School Counseling, Educational Psychology, or related field

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a school counseling role

  • Training in evidence-based approaches (CBT, solution-focused, trauma-informed)

  • Experience with developing a whole school preventive program

  • Understanding of child safeguarding responsibilities

We're the Right Fit If You Value:

  • Whole-Child Wellbeing – Academic success and emotional health are inseparable

  • Systemic Thinking – You see patterns, not just individual cases

  • Cultural Responsiveness – You meet families where they are

  • Confidentiality with Collaboration – You know when to hold and when to share

  • Prevention as Priority – You build capacity, not just respond to crisis
