The successful candidate will provide short-term counselling interventions to patients aged 16 and over who are experiencing a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, with a strong emphasis on trauma-informed care.The post holder will work under the supervision of the Counselling Service Lead and the Primary Care Network Manager.   <p>For a counsellor working in a primary care setting, the role involves delivering structured, evidence-based psychological support to individuals experiencing a range of emotional and mental health difficulties.
Key responsibilities include direct client work, collaborative practice, service development, supervision, and upholding ethical standards.</p><p>The post holder is expected to manage tasks delegated by members of the management teamsuch as the Business Manager, Practice Manager, or GPs. Together, we care for over 37,000 registered patients.</p><p>The PCN was established to provide more localised support, expand access to services, and enhance the overall patient experience by meeting a broader range of needs and supporting practice capacity. We have a multidisciplinary team of clinicians who work under the mentorship and supervision of our General Practitioners, delivering care both within the practices and out in the community. This team includes Health and Wellbeing Coaches, a Dietitian, a Social Prescriber, and a Paramedic. These roles work collaboratively with one another and closely with our in-house counselling team to provide holistic, person-centred care that addresses both physical and mental health needs.</p>

  <p>We are seeking to recruit 'Registered' qualified Counsellors to join our Urban team based in Dorset. The urban team covers Poole, Bournemouth &amp; Christchurch.</p> <p>We have permanent positions available in Poole (full time 5 days per week 37.5 hrs) and Bournemouth West( 3 days per week 22.5 hours). Interviews will be face to face at Gravel Hill, Canford Magna, Wimborne, Dorset.</p> <p>This is an excellent opportunity for someone with the appropriate skills, experience and qualifications to join a highly motivated, professional and committed team. All successful candidates for the permanent posts will be expected to train in one of the following NICE Approved Counselling modalities in line with service need, and following a successful 6 month probationary period; Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) Person Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE CfD) or Couples Therapy for Depression (CTfD).</p> <p>The requirements for a Band 5 position will be a minimum of a recognised Diploma in Counselling, be 'Registered' with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and be working towards Accreditation.</p> <p>Band 6 requirements will be British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) Accreditation status.</p> <p>Band 7 requirements are 'Accreditation' with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and a qualification in one of the counselling NICE Approved modalities (CTfD, DIT, IPT, PCE-CfD).</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>You will be expected to provide Counselling via digital and telephone platforms plus face-to-face appointments including on occasion home visits and working with interpreters. We provide short term time limited treatment. You will be required to facilitate groups online or in person and have excellent administration, IT and communication skills. The successful candidate will work as part of a team, be expected to work flexibly including one evening per week (1200-2000 shift) to meet with service demand.</p> <p>Previous experience of working in an NHS mental health setting, NHS Talking Therapies previously IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapy) service or similar organisation would be highly desirable. Employed practitioners will ideally pursue accreditation or registration with one of these bodies; and will complete annual continuing professional development and associated procedures required to maintain accreditation and/or registration. All costs associated with professional memberships, subscriptions, conferences, continuing education etc., are borne by the practitioner.</p><p><strong>Liability Insurance</strong></p><p>Employed practitioners are covered against malpractice liability by ABL insurance.</p><p><strong>Supervision</strong></p><p>Employed clinical practitioners are required to attend supervision at the minimum frequency of 1.5 hours per FTE per month, with an appropriately qualified professional approved by ABL.
