Post holder will support the provision of psychology services in a specified area, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and under the direction and supervision of a Senior/Principal/Consultant or Lead Psychologist. You will support clinical team working, including support for interventions and training programmes. What you will be doing

 <li>To provide knowledge and experience of supporting the provision of psychology services in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams</li>
 <li>To support and advise on psychological assessments of patients based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological (and neuropsychological) tests</li>
 <li>To support and advise implementation of formulating plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of service users mental health problems based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the patient’s problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.</li>
 <li>To support and advise on implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models.</li>
 <li>To provide guidance in ensuring Psychology practices in the specified area of service maintains the highest standards of professional practice and ethics, complying with clinical governance standards at all times.</li>

To be successful in this role, you will have:
<ul>
 <li>Successful completion of a Doctorate level qualification in applied psychology either through the British Psychological Society or a recognised training body, enabling registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist.</li>
 <li>Experience (either pre-training, on training, or subsequently) of working with clients with complex needs that are relevant to the population in the service area. This can include learning difficulty, neurodiversity and complex trauma.</li>
 <li>Experience of providing clinical supervision to Assistant and trainee Psychologists, as directed by the Lead Psychologist</li>
 <li>Experience in assessing, formulating and working therapeutically with patients in the service area.</li>

			&nbsp;As a consultant, you’ll know what it means to lead a team. To always strive for better. This is a great opportunity to join an established medical team at St Mary’s hospital and make a real difference to men who have enduring mental health and neurocognitive problems from various forms of Acquired Brain injury.
St Mary’s hospital has 67 beds spread across 4 main wards. There is one 17 bedded ward providing Neurorehabilitation services for men with acquired brain injury and mental health symptoms. Another 20 bedded unit is an acute psychiatric facility for men. The other 2 wards provide care to men in secure forensic services. This includes Adams ward (a medium secure ABI ward) and Dalston ward (a low secure ABI ward).
As a Consultant Psychiatrist some of your key responsibilities will include management of complex cases, formulating care plans and treatments for individual needs of service users, and guiding on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
The team consists currently of 3.5 consultants and 1.5 specialty doctors, and you will deliver clinical care to a dedicated caseload. You will be supported by a practice nurse and an enhanced GP service to meet patients’ physical healthcare needs. You will have support from a dedicated supervisor and a medical secretary team.

Key Responsibilities of the Consultant Psychiatrist include:

 <li>Providing RC and consultant psychiatrist input to inpatients in a forensic facility or rehabilitation ward.</li>

 <li>1 w.t.e post holder will carry a caseload of 16 - 18 inpatients depending on the acuity of the service). SAS doctor cover is available for the acute service.</li>
 <li>Participation in a low frequency second- on-call rota for the region</li>
 <li>Assessing new referrals to ensure that the service meets the needs of those who are admitted.</li>
 <li>Providing leadership to the clinical team and contributing to clinical governance and service development</li>
 <li>Maintaining good relationships with external agencies such as community teams and commissioning bodies.</li>

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

 <li>To hold MRCPsych or equivalent</li>

What you will be doing
You will work 37.5 hours a week as the Senior Psychologist for a service that offers (Neuro-Forensic Acquired Brain Injury rehabilitation for adult males).
In collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and under the direction and supervision of the Joint Heads of Psychology, you will support the delivery of psychology services across St Mary’s Hospital. In the absence of the Joint Heads, you will act as the primary point of contact between the psychology department and the senior management team.
As the Senior Psychologist you will have active participation in multidisciplinary team work, ensuring that our service users are fully engaged in their care pathways. It also includes supporting clinical team efforts through both direct interventions and the facilitation of staff training programmes.
