Open Door Project CIC is a community-led organisation dedicated to supporting women from migrant and refugee backgrounds. We help women improve their English language skills, gain confidence, learn new life and employability skills, and become more self-sustained while being part of a supportive and inclusive community.

Role Overview

We are looking for passionate and compassionate volunteers to support women from diverse migrant backgrounds. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, supporting learning, and contributing to a positive community environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support women in practicing and improving their English language skills
• Assist with group activities, workshops, and community sessions
• Provide informal guidance and encouragement to help women build confidence
• Help create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment
• Support women in developing practical life skills and employability skills
• Work collaboratively as part of a diverse and supportive team

Skills & Experience

• Ability to speak a foreign language is highly desirable, including (but not limited to):
  • Romanian
  • Iranian (Persian/Farsi)
  • Afghani
  • Urdu
  • Punjabi
  • Hindi
  • Ukrainian
  • Russian
  • Arabic
  • Sudanese Arabic
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity
• Willingness to work with women from refugee and migrant backgrounds
• No formal qualifications required – training and support will be provided
