
Trainee CBT Therapist
Job summary
Lincolnshire Talking Therapies is an IAPT site and vacancies have arisen for a Trainee CBT therapist based in Louth, although different locations may be available at interview.
The successful applicant will work in the Talking Therapies Service whilst also attending Lincoln University for 2 days per week to study for a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
The successful Trainee will provide treatment for people in the self-management of their common mental health problems through NICE recommended protocols whilst studying to attain the CBT qualification.
Trainees will be asked to sign a contract binding them to work for the Trust for 2 years after qualifying.
Candidates must be available to start the course in Spring 2026 and be prepared to travel to the University of Lincoln as required.
Please note that you will need to hold a degree, plus a Professional qualification such as Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Psychological Therapy or be able to provide evidence of meeting the Knowledge Skills and Attitude (KSA) requirements of the BABCP - follow the link below for more information:

Main duties of the job
Successfully complete and pass the Post Graduate Diploma in CBT.
Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department's referral protocols, and signpost clients who require other services on to the relevant service as necessary.
Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients
Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols .
Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
Undertake psychological assessments of patients referred to the service.
Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times
Be aware of, and keep up to date with advances in the spheres of CBT and other agreed psychological therapies
Ensure clear professional objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with senior therapists on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development
Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager
Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives
