Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and organized Student Support Specialist to assist our counselors in guiding students and families through the college planning and application process. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion in working with students and to help them achieve their higher education goals.
Key Responsibilities
Meet one-on-one with students and families to do check-ins
Assist students in researching and identifying suitable colleges and universities
Guide students through the application process, including timelines, essays, and deadlines
Support students in preparing first drafts of college essays, resumes, and interview skills
Maintain accurate records of student progress and counseling sessions
Stay informed on college admissions trends, financial aid opportunities, and scholarship options
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree in Communications, Psychology, Counseling, Education, or related field preferred)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and time-management abilities
Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
Familiarity with local high school curriculums and college admission requirements would be beneficial
