Senior Clinical Psychologist Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical psychologist with interest in working with older people to join the Salford Older Adult Community Mental Health Team.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to provide specialist psychological assessments, formulation and interventions to older people and their families. The successful candidate will also support team interventions for individuals living with dementia. There will be opportunities for consultation work and training, and involvement in developments and audit.
The service has strong links with local Clinical Psychology Training Programs, the wider Trust OA psychology service and Northwest FPOP.
The Psychology resource in the service currently consists of a Senior Clinical Psychologist and an assistant psychologist.
Applicants must be eligible for registration as Chartered Clinical Psychologists with the British Psychological Society and registration with the HCPC.
We are pleased to be able to offer this post as a preceptorship for suitably experienced candidates and would welcome applications from those who are recently qualified. The post would initially be a band 7 preceptorship until the necessary experience and competencies are met, upon which the post would move to a band 8a.
The post involves community work and home visiting, so applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability or offer a strategy to undertake visits safely and efficiently.
Direct clinical work with older people with a range of organic and functional difficulties, including delivering evidence based therapies, carrying out complex assessments and developing shared formulations.
Working with the team to develop psychological and trauma informed ways of understanding distress.
Supporting and developing research, audit, and quality improvement.
