Key Roles and Responsibilities of an RMN:
- Patient Assessment & Care Planning: Conducting comprehensive, holistic mental and physical health assessments to create individualized, evidence-based care plans.
- Medication Management: Administering medication, monitoring for side effects, and ensuring safe, compliant usage according to professional guidelines.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Conducting one-to-one therapy, leading group sessions, and using de-escalation techniques to support patients experiencing distress.
- Risk Management: Identifying and managing risks to the patient or others, including formulating safety and engagement plans.
- Liaison & Advocacy: Serving as a crucial link between patients, family members, psychiatrists, social workers, and community teams.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining precise, up-to-date patient records and clinical documentation in compliance with legal standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhering to the Mental Health Act and other relevant legal and ethical frameworks (e.g., safeguarding, confidentiality).
