Contract Type: Locum / Agency - 46 ph umbrella equivalent
A large private hospital group in Birmingham is currently seeking an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse to provide one-to-one support for a patient within a specialist rehabilitation service.
This role will involve delivering dedicated, person-centred care to support a patient during periods of distress, helping to manage risk and maintain safety within a therapeutic rehabilitation environment. The successful clinician will work closely with the multidisciplinary team while following the hospital's policies around least restrictive practice.
The service is ideally looking for nurses who are able to commit to block bookings in order to provide consistent care and continuity for the patient.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one care and support for a patient within a specialist rehabilitation setting.
Deliver high-quality, person-centred mental health care focused on safety, dignity, and wellbeing.
Support the patient during distressed periods and assist in reducing risk within the clinical environment.
Assist with personal care and support with activities of daily living where required.
Engage the patient in meaningful activities and therapeutic interaction.
Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with service standards.
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and consistent care delivery.
Adhere to all clinical governance, safeguarding policies, and professional standards.
Important Information
Care must be delivered in line with least restrictive practice principles. Physical restraint is not permitted within this role.
Essential Requirements
NMC registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse.
Experience supporting patients with complex mental health needs.
Previous experience providing one-to-one care within inpatient or rehabilitation settings.
Strong risk awareness and the ability to support patients during periods of distress.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating with the wider clinical team.
Desirable Experience
Experience within mental health rehabilitation services.
Experience supporting patients requiring enhanced observation or one-to-one care.
Compliance Requirements
Valid NMC registration
Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS
Up-to-date mandatory training
