Principal Educational PsychologistPermanent South Essex Hybrid WorkingSoulbury Scale B Points 12-15 (£72,999 - £77,184)Plus access to up to 3 additional SPA points (£78,591 - £81,425)An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and strategic Principal Educational Psychologist to lead and shape a high-performing Educational Psychology Service within a forward-thinking local authority in South Essex.About the role

• Lead the strategic direction and operational delivery of the Educational Psychology Service.
• Drive high-quality, evidence-based psychological practice across schools, settings, and wider services.
• Ensure effective delivery of statutory SEND responsibilities and psychological advice.
• Provide expert leadership on inclusion, mental health, wellbeing, and safeguarding.
• Develop and support a skilled Educational Psychology workforce through supervision, induction, coaching, and professional development.
• Work collaboratively with senior leaders and multi-agency partners to influence system-wide improvement and integrated working.

About you

• A recognised postgraduate qualification in Educational Psychology.
• Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist.
• Significant local authority Educational Psychology experience.
• Extensive knowledge of SEND legislation, statutory processes, safeguarding responsibilities, and the strategic frameworks that underpin effective service delivery.
• Experience of leading Educational Psychology services or senior teams, including performance management, quality assurance, and service development.
• A strong track record of partnership working across education, health, and social care and the ability to influence strategic decision-making at a senior level.
