
Practitioner Assistant Psychologist
Job summary
We are seeking a compassionate, reflective, and recovery-focused Assistant Psychologist to support the delivery of evidence-based psychological interventions for individuals on the Adult Acute Inpatient Wards at Wedgwood House, Bury St Edmunds.
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong understanding of psychological models of therapy and recovery, particularly Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) approaches within inpatient settings. Confidence in facilitating therapeutic groups, alongside knowledge and skills in collaboratively developing and disseminating psychological formulations, are essential attributes for the successful post holder.
The successful candidate will contribute to the team's work by providing psychological assessments, as well as individual and group interventions, under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist. There will also be opportunities to participate in audit, service evaluation, and research projects within the ward environment. Strong report-writing skills are highly desirable.
This post is ideally suited to those considering applying for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and there is a strong commitment from the supervising Clinical Psychologist to support applicants in their preparation for this training route.
