We are looking for aPeer Support Worker to join our Perinatal inpatient ward - The Beeches Mother and Baby Unit.

The Beeches is a 6 bedded unit, we admit women and birthing people from 32 weeks pregnancy and admit with babies up until the age of one. We work with a range of perinatal mental illness's and support them through their recovery journey. We also work closely with our patients partners and family members to ensure they are supported whilst their loved one is on the ward.

The successful applicant will work as a member of our multi-disciplinary mental health team, which is made up of nurses, nursery nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, a social worker and occupational therapists.

Main duties of the job

Under the supervision of a qualified practitioner, you will help support our our mums and families on the ward. This will include the running of a peer support group on the ward where you will be able to share your own experience, you will inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible, and be able to discuss the difficulties in the perinatal period.

This role has been developed specifically for individuals who have lived experience of accessing Perinatal Mental Health Services.

You will be able to promote peer support within the perinatal service, and contribute to the development of their involvement and participation, in service development.

The role is for 15 hours a week and we are happy to be flexible with what days and hours this is for the successful applicant.
