Part-Time Senior Clinical/Forensic Psychologist

Join Thornford Park Hospital as a Senior Clinical/Forensic Psychologist, where you will play a key role within a male Low Secure Unit (LSU). As the Ward Psychologist, you will be an integral part of the Multidisciplinary Team, providing specialist psychological input to a complex patient group and helping shape high-quality, patient-centred care.
In this role, you will work autonomously in managing your own caseload, delivering psychological assessments, formulation, and both long- and short-term therapeutic interventions. You will attend regular clinical and service development meetings, including MDTs, CPAs, referral discussions and hospital-wide forums, ensuring seamless collaborative working. Your work will include providing individual and group therapy, contributing to the development and review of care plans, and offering specialist advice to support the MDT in delivering effective, evidence-based interventions.
Responsibilities- Autonomous in managing your own caseload, which will involve working with complex service-users.
- Attending regular clinical and service development meetings, such as MDTs, CPA's, referrals, and other hospital-wide meetings.
- An integral part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team on Male LSU.
- Providing long- and short-term work, including clinical assessments to determine clinical needs and treatment plans.
- Providing both individual and group work to the patients.
- Maintaining monthly clinical supervision as well as regular line-management supervision.
- Providing clinical supervision to other therapy staff as appropriate and facilitating reflective practice.
- Providing written and verbal contributions to the MDT/ICR.
- Supporting the MDT in the development and review of care plans.
- Offering specialist clinical advice including assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care within the service.
- Contributing to professional development within the team.
- Contributing to teaching as part of Induction/mandatory training.
- Contributing to audit and research as directed by the line manager.
- Registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist and eligible for Chartered status with the British Psychological Society.
- Experience in using psychological models and theories to address a range of risk and behavioural issues.
