Are you an experienced and motivated MRI Radiographer ready to take the next step in your career?Join our dynamic and expanding Imaging Department at Milton Keynes University Hospital, where innovation, teamwork, and patient-centred care are at the heart of everything we do.

As an Advanced MRI Radiographer, you'll play a key role in delivering a high-quality diagnostic service across our modern MRI facilities - including two Siemens 1.5T scanners at the main hospital site and a GE 1.5T Voyager at our Community Diagnostic Centre. With a new state-of-the-art Imaging Scanning Centre opening in 2026, this is an exciting time to be part of our growing service.

You'll carry out a wide range of MRI examinations, including neuro, musculoskeletal, angiography, and dynamic studies, while ensuring the highest clinical standards and excellent patient care. The role also includes participation in the on-call rota for spinal emergencies.

We're looking for a radiographer who is:

To provide advanced MRI knowledge and advice to patients, carers, and other members of the radiography team as well as other imaging staff.

To take an active part in the supervision and training of radiographers, APs and student radiographers with their individual development needs in mind and to provide induction support and mentorship to new members of staff.

To share advanced MRI knowledge and skills with other members of the multi-disciplinary team and to work within and support the multi-disciplinary team.

Maintain effective communication and professional relationships with all areas within Radiology and with associated clinical areas within the Trust acting as a point of advice for referrers and patients when clarification is needed.

Deputise for the superintendent and deputy superintendent radiographers in operational management when required and to undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade as directed by the non-ionising radiation operational lead.

Responsibilities for analysis

1. Must possess skills for accurately assessing a range of complex, acute and other patient conditions so as to tailor diagnostic scanning protocols which take into account the optimization of the diagnostic images gained.

2. Must handle complicated situations made up of several components, which may be conflicting or where some information is unavailable.

3. Must be responsible to stream workflows to the correct clinicians and prioritise patients clinically based on clinical need.

1. The post holder is responsible for organising the daily workload.

2. Must ensure appropriate skill mix and training support for those staff performing MRI duties; juggling case mix and urgency of workload ensuring the department provides a timely service.

3. Balance of service needs with the training needs of staff within MRI is a complex evaluation task which is a requirement of the post holder and will need to be continuously undertaken.

  • BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent
  • Quality Improvement, transformation, and innovation training
  • Health and Care Professions Council Registration
  • Evidence of a sound level of computer literacy (MS Teams, word, outlook, power point and excel)
  • Familiarity with hospital information systems (HIS), radiology information systems (RIS) and picture archiving communications systems (PACS)
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements
