Tradewind is recruiting a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to join an alternative provision in Blackpool, helping young people who require additional emotional and behavioural support to succeed.
The Role
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a vital part in supporting teenagers who have faced significant social, emotional, or educational barriers. You'll work alongside a committed pastoral and SEND team to help students regulate, engage, and move forward with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Emotional & Behavioural Support
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group interventions for students with SEMH needs.
- Use trauma-informed, restorative, and nurturing approaches to support emotional regulation.
- Help create a calm, safe and consistent learning environment.
Relationship Building
- Act as a trusted adult and positive role model for young people.
- Build strong, professional relationships that encourage resilience, communication, and self-belief.
Learning & Engagement Support
- Encourage students to engage with their education and overcome barriers to learning.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral leads, and the SENCO to ensure the needs outlined in EHCPs are met.
Team Collaboration
- Monitor and report on progress, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing.
- Support staff across the provision to deliver high-quality care and interventions.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with young people with SEMH or mental health needs.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to managing challenging behaviour.
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
