The Role:
As a Mental Health Support Assistant, you will support children and young people who may be experiencing:
- Anxiety, depression, or emotional regulation difficulties
- Trauma, attachment needs, or challenging behaviour
- Social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
You'll work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and pastoral teams to help students feel safe, understood, and supported throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing 1:1 and small group emotional support
- Helping students regulate emotions and manage behaviour
- Building positive, trusting relationships
- Supporting learning engagement and wellbeing
- Following individual support plans and safeguarding procedures
About You:
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- A genuine interest in mental health, psychology, or SEN
- Experience working with children or young people (desirable, not essential)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to remain resilient in challenging situations
