Job summary

This is an exciting new position with an opportunity to join the children and young people county-wide eating disorder service in Cornwall and the Isle of Scilly. The post holder will work under the supervision of our Lead Systemic Family Psychotherapist for CYPEDS, and would offer supervision and support to our family therapists and systemic practitioners. The role requires travel to a number of sites within Cornwall and is supported by a wider multidisciplinary team.

This is a community-based role that requires frequent travel to various locations throughout the county including areas that may not be accessible by public transportation. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate how they will manage these travel requirements.

Main duties of the job

To provide a qualified leadership and delivery of family therapy and systemic principles to children, young people, and families within the Children & Young People Eating Disorders Service (CYPEDS).

Providing highly specialist family therapy at the same time as offering specialist advice, systemic supervision and consultation regarding formulations and treatment to NHS colleagues and external agencies.

To support clinicians in working to the Maudsley model of treatment for eating disorders, in line with NICE guidelines and best practice guidelines.

To take responsibility for supervision of trainees and systemic psychotherapists.

Towork autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.

To contribute to the CPD training and development of other Cornwall Partnership Trust professionals as agreed with the Service Lead.

To develop, implement and audit services for families and to initiate and participate in future service developments.

Essential

  • Qualification in relevant professional Training (i.e. Nurse, Social Worker, Psychologist)
  • Qualification in Family Therapy at Masters Level with post basic qualification and registered experience
  • Post Graduate masters/doctoral level training in family therapy
  • Eligibility for registration as a senior family therapist
  • Evidence of undertaking training in supervision

Desirable

  • Advanced Keyboard Skills

  • Experience as a family therapist working with children either clinical or community settings
  • Experience of working with young children and their families with severe emotional/ behavioural difficulties
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care coordinator and also within the context of a multi-agency care plan
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision
  • Managerial or supervisory responsibilities.
