
Health Care Support Worker
Job summary
An exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Health Care Support Worker has arisen in the Merthyr and Cynon LPMHSS . We are looking for a reliable, motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the team.
The applicant will be expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organisational skills along with the ability to use their own initiative.
The post holder will deliver psychologically informed interventions and education both 1:1 and in groups to those aged 17 and above and will support individuals throughout a prescribed structured intervention after they have been assessed in LPMHSS including educating individuals on skills that will help them to manage their own mental health.
The post holder will have a reasonable understanding of a range of psycho education and psychological interventions drawn from the principals of CBT, CFT, BSFT, DBT and computer based CBT.
Main duties of the job
Working within the legislative framework of Part One of the Mental Health (Wales) Measure, to improve access to mental health support at a primary care level for people with mild to moderate or severe but stable needs.
The post holder will provide support and guidance to people suffering with mental illness and or distress, having an understanding of the impact of mental illness on the individual and their family/carers.
The post holder will provide support to an allocated group of patients with a range of mild to moderate mental health care needs and assist their recovery and help them maintain their own community networks.
