At Worthing, you'll work with cutting-edge Canon Aquilion Prime and Aquilion ONE CT scanners, delivering a wide range of services from trauma and stroke to cardiac and interventional imaging. Southlands boasts a state-of-the-art Community Diagnostic Centre, opened last year, enhancing care with a new Canon Aquilion ONE Prism CT for GP and outpatient referrals.

You'll be joining a friendly, nurturing team committed to professional development. We offer on-the-job training in Cardiac CT, CT Colonography, PGD drug administration, and you'll play a key role in consolidating our Radiographer-led CT Colonography service. We are also introducing a Radiographer led cardiac CT service in the near future.

If you have significant post-grad experience in CT, with an NHS background, we'd love to hear from you. Cardiac and CTC experience welcome but not essential--we'll support you to grow.

Main duties of the job

The CT Superintendent Radiographer is a key member of the Radiology Team, reporting directly to the CT Lead Radiographer.

The post holder is pivotal to delivery of CT services across the Trust.

Ensure the department and staff work within the patient first framework

Primarily a clinical post which involves the supervision and management of operational activities within the CT Department with responsibility for patients and staff within the area.

Planning and prioritising their own and departments workload to maintain diagnostic targets

Ensure the highest quality of patient care and imaging quality is maintained

Undertake day to day management and associated duties that ensure the efficient running of the CT scanning service

Clinical

  • To perform imaging examinations and care for patients during these examinations, respecting their rights of privacy and confidentially, thereby providing a high quality service to both patients and clinicians.
  • To maintain a clean and work tidy environment and to identify faults with equipment or hazards (real or potential) and instigate actions to resolve these issues informing appropriate bodies where necessary.
  • Undertake IV cannulation and contrast media administration.
  • Ensure the Trust clinical risk and incident reporting policies are adhered to within the CT scanner
  • Attend appropriate MDT and other clinical meetings.
  • To maintain a flexible approach to working hours such as extended days and weekend working

Communication

Service Delivery and Improvement

Ensure the most efficient use of resources whilst ensuring service delivery.

To delegate where appropriate, responsibilities both professional and organisational to others in your charge.

To act as the Radiation Protection supervisor for the CT suite and to maintain high standards of radiation protection being aware of local rules and systems of work in each relevant area

Achieve and maintain the appropriate waiting time targets for diagnostic tests pertaining to the speciality in association with the Clinical Lead and Medical Imaging Manager

Offer clinical advice on imaging referrals and results to other radiographic staff and referring clinicians.

To independently assess and justify examinations under the IR(ME)R 2000 regulations using

department protocols when necessary.

To evaluate the clinical quality of the images produced within the area of expertise, to advise other Radiographic staff and to offer clinical advice to referring clinicians as indicated by departmental policies.

To bring to the attention of Radiography Manger any area of concerns regarding correct working of imaging equipment

To participate in the proper maintenance and cleanliness of all equipment as directed.

Responsible for implementation and recording of a QA programme, maintain good practices.

Evaluate and prepare reports on new equipment within your field of expertise

Ensure the implementation of examination protocols, regularly updating in liaison with the lead CT Consultant Radiologist.
