Job Overview

Ganges Ward is an acute inpatient mixed ward for adults aged 18-65 with mental health and learning difficulties located in Kensington & Chelsea. Ward provides 24 hour service, 7 days a week with staff rostered to 11.5 hour shifts day and night.

Main duties of the job
  • Carry out routine nursing care for patients and support their recovery journey
  • Work collaboratively with the therapy team and other multidisciplinary staff
  • Exercise professional accountability under the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
  • Take responsibility for clinical supervision and personal development plan
Detailed responsibilities
  • Use clinical judgement and risk assessments to keep patients safe
  • Identify and respond to safeguarding risks, escalating as required
  • Advocate for patients and support others in the team
  • Maintain compliance with mandatory training and professional registration
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and quality initiatives
  • Document and reflect on practice to improve safety and quality
Clinical outcomes contribution
  • Provide evidence based nursing care adhering to policies and procedures
  • Assist in care planning, risk and needs assessment and acting as patient advocate
  • Work autonomously while recognising limits of competence and confidence

Person specification - Education
  • Registered Nurse, Mental Health
  • Mentorship or equivalent
  • Completed preceptorship programme
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement, evaluate patient care
  • Experience in acute mental health and group work facilitation
  • Experience managing other staff
