Ganges Ward is an acute inpatient mixed ward for adults aged 18-65 with mental health and learning difficulties located in Kensington & Chelsea. Ward provides 24 hour service, 7 days a week with staff rostered to 11.5 hour shifts day and night.
Main duties of the job- Carry out routine nursing care for patients and support their recovery journey
- Work collaboratively with the therapy team and other multidisciplinary staff
- Exercise professional accountability under the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
- Take responsibility for clinical supervision and personal development plan
- Use clinical judgement and risk assessments to keep patients safe
- Identify and respond to safeguarding risks, escalating as required
- Advocate for patients and support others in the team
- Maintain compliance with mandatory training and professional registration
- Contribute to continuous improvement and quality initiatives
- Document and reflect on practice to improve safety and quality
- Provide evidence based nursing care adhering to policies and procedures
- Assist in care planning, risk and needs assessment and acting as patient advocate
- Work autonomously while recognising limits of competence and confidence
- Communicate effectively with all team members
- Support and develop junior staff through supervision and appraisal
- Registered Nurse, Mental Health
- Mentorship or equivalent
- Completed preceptorship programme
- Ability to assess, plan, implement, evaluate patient care
- Experience in acute mental health and group work facilitation
- Experience managing other staff
- Build constructive relationships with warmth and empathy
- Work within multidisciplinary teams with initiative under minimal supervision
- Prioritise workload and manage complex care contexts
- Provide supervision and support to junior staff and students
- Demonstrate person centred care and advocacy
