Job Overview
Assistant Psychologist - Secure Ward, Cygnet Hospital, Stevenage. Full time, Monday through Friday 08:00-16:00, 37.5 hours per week.
Qualifications- Completed a degree in Psychology (2:1 or above) or equivalent
- Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society
- Experience in health care and/or an Assistant Psychologist role, preferably in forensic services
- Passionate about learning and working as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to work independently, safely and ethically within agreed limits
- Administer and report psychometric assessments and outcome measures
- Develop clinical and risk formulations, safety plans
- Develop and implement care plans for psychological interventions
- Plan, deliver and evaluate individual and group treatment programmes
- Support the development of Positive Behaviour Support plans
- Perform administration, audit, research and service development activities
- Contribute to training and support of staff
Access to regular clinical supervision, in person or online training, and the Assistant Psychology Development Programme (APDP). The APDP includes:
- Online lectures across five modules - Clinical skills, Psychoeducation, Psychological approaches, Research skills and Career development
- Live interactive workshops for reflective discussions and critical thinking
- Salary starting at £29,642.55 per annum, increasing to £30,186.45 after probation, and to £30,730.35 after 18 months

Successful candidates must undergo an enhanced DBS check. The role reports to a qualified psychologist who is also the line manager.
