About Us
The General Chiropractic Council (GCC) regulates chiropractors in the UK to ensure the safety of patients undergoing chiropractic treatment.
We are an independent statutory body established by, and accountable to, Parliament to regulate the chiropractic profession. We protect the health and safety of the public by ensuring high standards of practice in the chiropractic profession.
The title of 'chiropractor' is protected by law and it is a criminal offence for anyone to describe themselves as a chiropractor without being registered with the General Chiropractic Council.
We check that all chiropractors, including those from outside the UK, are properly qualified and are fit to practise. We also approve and monitor the programmes offered by education providers responsible for training chiropractors in the UK.
By promoting standards and collaborating with registered chiropractors and other stakeholders, we help to support public confidence in the profession and its place within the wider healthcare system.
