<h2>INDEPENDENT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVISORS</h2>37 Hours per weekContract until March 2026Locations across West Mercia&nbsp;£27,306.96 per annum for those holding IDVA Safelives Qualifications&nbsp;(£26,265.46 per annum for unqualified IDVA’s)As an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor, you will be part of helping us achieve our mission of reducing the incidents of domestic abuse in the West Mercia region.&nbsp;The role is to provide crisis support and advocacy to victims of domestic abuse who have been assessed as being at high risk.The successful applicant will ideally hold an IDVA Safelives qualification; however, applications will be accepted from unqualified applicants who have relevant experience, knowledge and skills for the role.&nbsp;<h3>The role will involve:-</h3><ul><li>Working as part of the IDVA Service to ensure that victims of domestic abuse who have been assessed as being at high risk are provided with the best possible advocacy, advice and support</li><li>To participate in the safety plan of victims referred to the local Multi-agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC)</li><li>Carrying out and recording an assessment of the needs and risk (DASH) of each case, using information from key partners e.g. Police, Probation and Community Rehabilitation Company (CRC) to inform the risk assessment.</li><li>Developing and implementing a structured individual safety and support plan with service users, focusing on meeting their cultural needs.&nbsp; &nbsp;</li><li>Co-coordinating the plan and liaising with agencies to ensure the safety plan is robust.</li><li>Supporting service users through the legal, criminal or civil justice systems, drafting orders as and when required.</li><li>Experience of strong advocacy and support work with vulnerable people</li><li>Experience of working with high risk victims of domestic abuse</li><li>An IDVA Safelives Qualification (desirable)</li><li>Good knowledge and understanding of the importance of culture, faith and heritage for those experiencing domestic abuse</li><li>Experience of working in a multi-agency framework and of managing a case load</li><li>Knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse issues and the needs of adults, young people and children affected by it</li><li>Knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, and child protection processes and practice</li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and good written/verbal communication skills</li><li>The ability to maintain clear professional boundaries.</li><li>Car user essential</li></ul><h3>We are looking for someone who has ….</h3>If you have relevant experience, transferable skills and a knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse issues and the needs of those affected by it, we would love to hear from you.&nbsp;<h3>Closing date for &nbsp;applications: 20/05/2025</h3><h3>Interviews date 13/06/2025</h3>WMWA is a feminist organisation and we hold the view that domestic violence and abuse is both a cause and a consequence of women’s unequal position in society.All client facing posts are open to women only – in accordance with The Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1WMWA values diversity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.[Charity No 1078496]All posts are subject to Enhanced DBS checks &amp; satisfactory references.
