Lead Counsellor

<p>You will provide the Ward Psychologist role for a male Learning Disability MSU, being an integral part of the multidisciplinary teams, providing psychological input to the service user groups, and supporting and supervising the Assistant Psychologist working on the ward.</p>
<p>We provide services for male and female patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) who require care in conditions of medium and low security. Our service users, many of whom have forensic histories, require long-term treatment and rehabilitation and present with multiple problems, challenging and high-risk behaviour and complex care needs. In addition to the mental health wards, Thornford Park has a 14-bedded low secure service for male patients with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, commissioned by NHS England, a medium/low secure service for females with a Learning Disability, and a medium secure service for males with Learning Disability.&nbsp; We also have two Psychiatric Intensive Care Units, one for males and one for females, providing holistic assessment and treatment for individuals experiencing crisis.</p>

  <p>An exciting opportunity has arisen for Occupational Therapists with experience of working with young people and their families to work in Tri-borough CAMHS. This is a full-time Band 7 permanent post in the CAMHS Alliance service.</p>

Increasingly, we are leading and collaborating closely with integrated care partnerships including working towards giving a stronger voice to some of the most vulnerable people in society.</p>

<h2>Job summary</h2>
  <p>The successful applicant will work as the Senior Group Facilitator with the wider MDT to develop and deliver a range of group interventions as part of the group work programme at ARC Hounslow. These will be evidence based and will include Motivational Interviewing, Relapse Prevention, Activity based CBT-informed, Positive Psychology and Solution Focused interventions supporting service users from contemplating change through to long term recovery and aftercare.</p> <p>The post holder will have appropriate awareness and/or working knowledge of therapies relevant to drug and alcohol disorders (i.e. Motivational Interviewing, Relapse Prevention, CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, ITEP.) and have experience of assessment, care planning, case management, risk assessment and of offering individual and group-based recovery interventions.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team which provides a range of specialist services to service users presenting with substance misuse issues, including alcohol. Including group work in 1-1 and group work settings, outreach; delivering evidence-based interventions such as: harm minimisation approaches, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, care planning individual interventions, health education and detoxification programmes, mindfulness, counselling.</p> <p>To make continuous assessments of the psychological, emotional, social and rehabilitative needs of clients, in group and 1:1 settings, taking into account the needs of family, local community and developing care plans and evaluation of these plans.</p> <p>To be able to assess and case manage clients who inject drugs, in particular assessing injection sites and be conversant with the precepts of harm minimisation, taking a predominant role in providing duty assessments to clients who are new to the service. </p>
