<p>Join the team at Gateway Recovery Centre as a Consultant Psychiatrist&nbsp;providing care and treatment for men and women in&nbsp;specialist inpatient, rehabilitation and low secure settings.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Gateway Recovery Centre is situated in Widnes, close to Liverpool, Manchester, Chester and surrounding areas. There are excellent transport links, which allows the town to be reachable for those travelling across the Northwest.</p>
<p>Gateway Recovery Centre has 72 beds spread across 6 wards.3 wards constitute the women’s service with one acute ward and two level 2 rehabilitation ward for women with high support needs. The other 3 wards provide care to men in specialist rehabilitation unit for men with ASD (Cedar ward), low secure ward (Dove ward) and a rehabilitation ward for older men with complex mental health needs and physical health comorbidities (Ash Ward).</p>
<p>The team consists currently of 4.5 consultants, and you will deliver clinical care to a dedicated caseload. You will be supported by a practice nurse and an enhanced GP service to meet patients’ physical healthcare needs. You will have support from a dedicated supervisor and a medical secretarial team. Specialty doctor cover is available for the acute ward.</p>
<p>You will have access to excellent CPD, and the support of a large peer group of enthusiastic and high-calibre consultants from varied sub-specialties.</p>
<p><strong>Your responsibilities will include:</strong></p>

    <li>Providing RC and consultant psychiatrist input to inpatients </li>
    <li>0.5 wte will carry a case load of 8-12 patients depending on the nature of the service</li>

<p>St Mary’s hospital has 67 beds spread across 4 main wards. There is one 17 bedded ward providing Neurorehabilitation services for men with acquired brain injury and mental health symptoms. Another 20 bedded unit is an acute psychiatric facility for men. The other 2 wards provide care to men in secure forensic services. This includes Adams ward (a medium secure ABI ward) and Dalston ward (a low secure ABI ward).</p>
<p>As a Consultant Psychiatrist some of your key responsibilities will include management of complex cases, formulating care plans and treatments for individual needs of service users, and guiding on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.</p>
<p>The team consists currently of 3.5 consultants and 1.5 specialty doctors, and you will deliver clinical care to a dedicated caseload. You will be supported by a practice nurse and an enhanced GP service to meet patients’ physical healthcare needs. You will have support from a dedicated supervisor and a medical secretary team.</p>

You will work closely with varying stakeholders within the region, including the PROSPECT Provider Collaborative.</p>
<p>Post holder will support the provision of psychology services in a specified area, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and under the direction and supervision of a Senior/Principal/Consultant or Lead Psychologist. You will maintain high quality ensuring adherence to national guidelines, legislation, organisational protocols and play a key role in Psychology service development through an evidence-based approach.</p>
<p>As a registered psychologist you will participate fully with the multidisciplinary team and stakeholders as part of the project work. You will review processes, guidelines and standards to help guide service user engagement in their care pathway and will be under the supervision and management of the clinical director. You will support clinical team working, including support for interventions and training programmes. You will be an innovative thinker, developing new initiatives and ways of working, whilst working closely with internal/ external agencies to enhance treatment pathways for service users.</p>

<p><strong>To be successful in this role, you will have:</strong></p>

  <p>This is an exciting opportunity to join and contribute to a psychologically-led healthcare team. The role is to contribute to the provision of a high-quality, specialist psychology service for young people in two SCHs within the Health and Justice Directorate. The young people present with a range of diverse needs including complex trauma, neurodiversity, and common mental health difficulties (e.g., anxiety and depression). These cooccur alongside concerns about risk to themselves and / or others, as well as risk from others, often in the form of exploitation. The post involves working within a multidisciplinary mental and physical healthcare team to undertake assessments and interventions directly with young people, their families and carers. The role also involves working alongside other Psychology colleagues to implement and embed formulation-led, trauma-informed care throughout both SCHs, in line with the NHS England SECURE STAIRS initiative. This involves exciting opportunities for partnership working including consultation, training, supervision and formulation, as well as innovative service development activities.</p>   <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>This role would particularly suit those interested in working with young people with backgrounds of complex trauma, who pose a risk to themselves and others. Candidates would benefit from previous forensic and clinical experience, with a motivation to develop their clinical experience further. There are opportunities within the team for professional development and training. Current team members have accessed a range of CPD opportunities recently including EMDR training, attendance at national Secure Children's Homes (SCHs) network events and AIM risk assessment training. The team use a range of clinical models including CBT, DBT, CFT, EMDR and Schema Therapy. This post is placed in a challenging but rewarding environment. The post holder must therefore be able to demonstrate a high level of resilience, be able to manage exposure to potentially distressing and emotive situations and disclosures and be able to work with young people who present a risk of serious harm to others or themselves.
