<h2>Fully remote, full-time internship for aspiring clinical psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors.</h2>Our Clinical Psychology Internship equips aspiring mental health professionals worldwide with essential skills and practical client-facing experience, preparing them for careers in clinical psychology, coaching, psychotherapy, or counselling.Interns complete an intensive one-month crash course covering a toolkit of evidence-based techniques from Motivational Interviewing, Coaching, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). They then provide free online, one-to-one coaching to global clients who otherwise lack access to mental health care, initially promoting behaviour change (e.g., diet, sleep, reducing procrastination) and later progressing to clients experiencing depression or anxiety.<h3>About Overcome</h3>Overcome is a UK-registered charity (Charity Number: 1191308) providing online mental health coaching worldwide, particularly to underserved communities in developing countries. We are a trusted placement provider for leading universities such as UCL, Bath, and Loughborough.<h3>Internship Overview</h3>This internship is a fully remote, unpaid, full-time (~30 hours/week) role. Approximately 80% of our alumni secure paid mental health positions (e.g., Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Assistant Psychologists, Support Workers), or pursue further relevant studies shortly after completion.We take applications on a rolling basis with monthly cohorts!<h2>Responsibilities</h2><h3>1st Month</h3><ul><li>Full-time Intensive Training</li></ul>Engage in full-time intensive training covering techniques from motivational interviewing, and important techniques from cognitive behavioural therapy and acceptance commitment therapy.<ul><li>Diverse Learning Activities</li></ul>Learning activities include live workshops, self-study, quizzes, one-to-one/group roleplays, and assessments.t<h3>2nd and 3rd Month</h3><ul><li>Client Work</li></ul>~90% of interns pass training to support real clients. They keep track of client sessions and update their supervisor. They also attend weekly internal clinical supervision and ~monthly external clinical supervision.<ul><li>Opportunities</li></ul>Other opportunities include training future cohorts, completing recruitment role-plays to recruit future interns, managing your own project in mental health, etc.<h2>Post-Internship Opportunities</h2><ul><li>70% of our alumni continue volunteering with us to see clients at flexible hours.</li><li>2% chance of full-time employment at a competitive salary.</li><li>Some clients may pay for extended coaching sessions, mutually agreed between you and the client. Counsellors&nbsp;on Placement provide emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people aged 4-18 in Place2Be partner schools. As an organisation that has adopted the BACP ethical framework of good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, counsellors working within the organisation are dedicated to improving the mental health and well-being of the children they work with.

 <li>Place2Be provides a high level of support to counsellors on placement through regular supervision, tailored training workshops and offers a well-recognised clinical placement*.</li>
 <li>We provide a comprehensive induction programme and clinical supervision is undertaken at the end of each day.</li>
 <li>We need you to be available for a minimum of one day per week to work in a therapeutic capacity with up to 3 children offering one-to-one counselling.</li>
 <li>Placements are term time only and run for one academic year. There are opportunities for you to stay with us beyond one year.</li>
 <li>You will have the opportunity to attend up to six optional workshops throughout the year which are recognised as continuing professional development time.</li>
 <li>Sessions spent with children are accepted as clinical hours towards professional accreditation, and are recognised by the BACP and UKCP.</li>
 <li>A placement is an excellent stepping stone into a job opportunity and career with Place2Be, over ⅔ of our clinical staff were once Counsellors on Placement.</li>
 <li>We have places available in our projects in both primary and secondary schools nationwide.</li>

*Counting your hours
 
All clinical hours gained on placement can be used towards accreditation with a body such as BACP and UKCP. However if you need to gain clinical hours for your course, we would strongly advise that you check with your course tutor as to whether child hours are accepted before applying. If your course does not accept child hours but you would like to gain counselling experience of working with Children and Young People, you can still apply for a Place2Be placement as a second placement.

You will be a fully qualified Counsellor, Therapist or Clinical Psychologist or studying towards one of these professions at the following levels:
<ul>
 <li>Diploma in Counselling (Level 4 or above). If you are in your first year you will have completed a full academic year Certificate Course in Counselling or the equivalent of 9 - 12 months.</li>
 <li>Degree, MSc or MA in Counselling, Counselling Psychology or Psychotherapy - if you are in your first year you will have relevant experience of direct work with children.</li>

			Place2Be is the leading children's mental health charity providing in-school support and expert professional development to improve the emotional wellbeing of children and young people, families, teachers and school staff. The charity currently provides an embedded mental health service in 500 UK primary and secondary schools supporting a school community of around 243,000 children and young people. 
 
Our teams provide a range of services in our partner schools to build resilience early in life through counselling, creative work and play and support a child’s ability to engage in school life.
