Volunteer Publicity Organiser

Our Linked Minds Befriending Project supports people in the London boroughs of Ealing and Hounslow who are socially isolated due to a diagnosed mental health problemOn successful completion of the training, including mental health training, the Volunteer Befriender is matched with someone suitable, by a Co-ordinator who then acts as a (non-clinical) supervisor for the befriending period, which is limited to a year.Befriender, client and supervisor make a plan together with a goal to work towards, and the Befriender makes a weekly 1-2 hour visit to the client’s home, where they might stay in and chat over a cup of tea, go out for a walk together, visit a café or undertake a local activity.&nbsp;These visits make such a difference for the client, increasing their confidence and helping them explore and work towards getting a job, joining a club, meeting other people or whatever their goal may be.The aim is that, by the end of the year, clients feel better about themselves, more valued, resilient, empowered, more linked to their community and better equipped for their journeys in recovery.But volunteering with BEfriend not only enriches the lives of those who are isolated, it also offers immense personal rewards.As a Befriender, you’ll get to know inspirational people with fascinating stories, develop new skills and be part of a supportive team that values compassion and connection.

<h2>Fully remote, full-time internship for aspiring clinical psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors.</h2>Our Clinical Psychology Internship equips aspiring mental health professionals worldwide with essential skills and practical client-facing experience, preparing them for careers in clinical psychology, coaching, psychotherapy, or counselling.Interns complete an intensive one-month crash course covering a toolkit of evidence-based techniques from Motivational Interviewing, Coaching, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). They then provide free online, one-to-one coaching to global clients who otherwise lack access to mental health care, initially promoting behaviour change (e.g., diet, sleep, reducing procrastination) and later progressing to clients experiencing depression or anxiety.<h3>About Overcome</h3>Overcome is a UK-registered charity (Charity Number: 1191308) providing online mental health coaching worldwide, particularly to underserved communities in developing countries. We are a trusted placement provider for leading universities such as UCL, Bath, and Loughborough.<h3>Internship Overview</h3>This internship is a fully remote, unpaid, full-time (~30 hours/week) role. Approximately 80% of our alumni secure paid mental health positions (e.g., Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Assistant Psychologists, Support Workers), or pursue further relevant studies shortly after completion.We take applications on a rolling basis with monthly cohorts!<h2>Responsibilities</h2><h3>1st Month</h3><ul><li>Full-time Intensive Training</li></ul>Engage in full-time intensive training covering techniques from motivational interviewing, and important techniques from cognitive behavioural therapy and acceptance commitment therapy.<ul><li>Diverse Learning Activities</li></ul>Learning activities include live workshops, self-study, quizzes, one-to-one/group roleplays, and assessments.t<h3>2nd and 3rd Month</h3><ul><li>Client Work</li></ul>~90% of interns pass training to support real clients. They keep track of client sessions and update their supervisor. Croydon Drop In (CDI) are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Qualified Volunteer Counsellor to work within our award-winning Voluntary Sector services. The post-holder will work within our safeguarding protocols to provide safe interventions for children and young people using evidence-based methodologies. The post holder will safely work with people across different cultural backgrounds and ages and will be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Counselling is delivered by experienced qualified contracted counsellors, and our team is supported by qualified volunteer counsellors who wish to give back to the community, require a stepping stone to a paid counselling role or are independently working toward increasing their client contact hours or are working toward their accreditation.
To meet the standard criteria you will:
<ul>
<li>Ba a graduate or at post graduate level in counselling or have completed a level 4 Diploma or equivalent in Therapeutic Counselling</li>
<li>Be a Registered Member or an Accredited Member of the BACP membership or equivalent with a professional standards authority (e.g. UKCP, HPC)</li>
<li>Have two years minimum duration of personal counselling or psychotherapy.</li>
<li>Commit to delivering 4 hours counselling (1 evening) per week to young people of the service</li>
<li>Have 1 years’ experience of delivering counselling in a counselling agency or similar setting</li>

The post holder will safely work with people across different cultural backgrounds and ages and will be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. 
Our team is supported by student practitioners completing their final year of their practitioner studies.
Please note:
Counselling training providers usually require you to obtain a certain amount of client contact hours with adults i.e. 18 years plus, therefore it’s important to note that the majority of clients accessing our CDI counselling services are under 18 years of age. As a student placement provider, CDI makes for an ideal 2nd placement that will ensure you have adequate young people contact hours, largely under 18 years of age, providing you with the learning experiences you need to meet the competency requirements of your training course and provider. It is important to check with your training provider, the cap on the number of under 18 years of age clients permitted for your course.
