  <ul>  <li>You will be offering art psychotherapy to patients on an individual and group basis to support the therapeutic environment on the ward and support patients to manage their distress and facilitate stabilisation.</li>  <li>You willas hold a consultation and leadership role in the ward, developing skills in assessment and practice within a group context.</li>  <li>You will have skills to intervene via a range of formats e.g. ward groups, staff consultation, families/carers and the MDT.</li> </ul>

    <p>Reporting to the Head of Clinical Services you will hold accountability and responsibility for the SLT provision to all clients within our rehabilitation centre.</p><p>Leading and managing a specialist SLT team in a brand new state of the art rehabilitation centre.       <p>Reporting to the Head of Clinical Services you will hold accountability and responsibility for the SLT provision to all clients within our rehabilitation centre.</p><p>Leading and managing a specialist SLT team in a brand new state of the art rehabilitation centre. The team comprises band 6 and band 5 SLTs, an SLT assistant and we are proactive to have students.</p><p>To contribute to the continued development of a high quality SLT therapeutic service</p><p>To provide specialist dysphagia assessment and intervention to clients who require, utilising compotenceis and experience at a senior practitioner level.</p><p>To provide highly skilled communication assessment and intervention to all our clients with acquired brain injury, such as stroke, ABI and other neurological conditions, utilising compotenceis and experience at a senior practitioner level.</p><p>Delivering 1:1 and group SLT sessions to a range of clients and creating accessible communication and swallowing guidance for the wider MDT.</p><p>Conducting skilled mental capacity assessments independently or jointly with other professionals, as appropriate.</p><p>Having a key-worker role managing and overseeing a specific clients whole journey at QEF, liasing with families, being a single point of contact for all queries, co-ordinating care and discharge packages.</p><p>Advocating on clients behalf in a range of situations, eg. when writing reports, CHC forms and complex DST meetings where highly skilled reporting and ability to deal with questioning is necessary.</p><p>Closely working with the wider multi-disciplinary team PTs, OTs, Psychology team, dietitian, nursing, carers, kitchen staff, activity co-ordinators. <h2>Job summary</h2>
  <p><strong>An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time, permanent, Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work in the Community Children and Young People's Service (CYPS) in the Northumberland team.</strong> </p>
<p>We welcome applicants who have experience working with children and young people although this is not essential. It is essential that applicants are registered as a Speech and Language Therapist and have previous experience working within a mental health, learning disability or neurodevelopmental setting and/or team. We are interested in appointing a dedicated and committed individual who can demonstrate their ability to engage and work collaboratively with others/partner agencies and understand complex systems in order to support effective pathways.</p>
<p>CYPS provide care, treatment and assessment for young people with complex, moderate to severe needs over the whole of Northumberland. </p>
<p>The multi-disciplinary team comprises a highly skilled and experienced workforce of consultant psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychotherapists, social workers, art therapists and support workers. The team are dedicated, compassionate and always put young people and their families at the centre of everything they do.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>You will provide specialist SALT assessment, intervention and recommendations for children and young people accessing these services. You will work as an integral member of the CYPS MDT and support the ongoing development of the SALT provision in the service.</p>
<p>You should have qualifications and experience relevant in this clinical field and work well as part of a close team and be able to work independently. You will liaise closely with fellow professionals to address communication difficulties as part of a holistic, service user centred service and be confident in providing high quality, evidence-based assessments and interventions and possess excellent communication and organisational skills as well as have the ability to work independently.</p>
<p>The post will be based at St Georges Park Hospital in Morpeth, Northumberland. You will be required to travel to other sites across the Trust as part of the role.</p>
