			Are you an&nbsp;experienced and innovative HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist&nbsp;looking to take the next step in your career?&nbsp;This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a&nbsp;multi-disciplinary psychological therapies team which covers both male and female adult acute inpatient wards (23 beds in total) at Potters Bar Clinic.

You will be joining us at an exciting time as we are developing a new pathway for young adults who present with complex trauma, and you will have a key role in contributing to this service development.&nbsp;There are opportunities for further training relevant to the therapeutic work.

You&nbsp;will provide a clinical service of specialist psychology assessments and interventions to a number of adult service users with&nbsp;acute mental health needs&nbsp;on the ward. You will also provide a specialist clinical perspective in relation to other service users with whom you might not be directly involved. Potters Bar uses a formulation driven and trauma informed model of care.
Reporting directly to the Lead Psychologist, you will be responsible for individual and group interventions, diagnostic and cognitive assessments, MDT working and risk assessments. You will also facilitate staff reflective practice sessions and be requested to design and deliver training.
As a Psychologist, you will have experience and knowledge in carrying a service user’s caseload, including assessing complex needs and designing and delivering specialist psychological treatments to support their care plans.&nbsp;&nbsp;

As a Psychologist you will be:
<ul>
 <li>Working autonomously to provide a specialist psychology service to patients as agreed by Consultant Psychiatrist, Therapies Lead, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and in discussion with wider MDT.</li>
 <li>Undertaking specialist assessments.</li>
 <li>Providing specialist interventions according to formulations based on an appropriate conceptual framework, NICE guidelines, evidence from research, and in accordance with the wider MDT formulation and interventions.</li>
 <li>Be involved in running therapeutic groups on the ward as agreed.</li>
 <li>Continually monitor risk of all patients for whom there is direct contact, or regarding which the post holder receives relevant information, ensure acute risk is managed, liaise with MDT (and in particular responsible psychiatrist) regarding risk, and update electronic record including risk assessment as required.</li>
 <li>Ensuring that all clinical work is adequately recoded in the electronic patient record.</li>
 <li>Attending ward rounds (and other MDT meetings), case conferences, CPAs as required, and provide reports in advance for these in accordance with local procedures.</li>
 <li>Preparing clinical; reports as required, e.g. assessment reports, discharge summaries.</li>
 <li>Liaising with internal and external colleagues as required</li>
 <li>Completing all recording and reporting tasks associated with clinical work.</li>
 <li>Facilitating ‘reflective practice’ sessions for the ward-based staff as agreed within the psychological therapies team and in discussion with wider MDT.&nbsp;Please note that the reflective practice sessions take place at 7:30am and 7:30pm to cover day and night ward-based staff. There is flexibility in the working arrangements to accommodate these working patterns.</li>
</ul>
&nbsp;To be successful in this role, you'll need:
<ul type="disc">
 <li>Have BPS recognised psychology degrees</li>
 <li>Be HCPC registered</li>
 <li>Have understanding of evidence-based psychological practice</li>
 <li>Have experience of applying psychological knowledge to a psychiatric setting</li>
 <li>Experience in inpatient work preferable but not essential</li>

<h2>Job overview</h2>Alleyn's School, based in Dulwich, South London, are seeking a Counsellor to work as part of our pastoral team to provide one‑to‑one counselling to pupils across the both the Senior School and Junior Schools from January 2026. The successful candidate will have or be working towards appropriate accreditation with BACP, UKCP, APC, BAAT or similar, and hold or be working towards a post graduate qualification in Counselling or Psychotherapy. A friendly demeanor fitting with the ethos of the School&nbsp;and a welcoming and non-judgmental attitude are crucial. The job is available on a part time basis, working 1 or 2 days a week, term time only. This is a fixed term position for two terms, running from 8 January 2026 to 2 July 2026.
