  <p>We are looking for a 1.0 wte Assistant Psychologist to join our S-CAMHS service in Hywel Dda University Health Board. </p>
<p>It is a permanent role and will be based in Carmarthen. </p>
<p>The successful post holder will provide clinical work under the regular supervision of a clinical psychologist and there will be opportunities for peer reflective practice and training.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>The successful candidate will be based in Carmarthen but will work flexibly across the S-CAMHs services depending on the needs of the service at that time. Therefore, they are likely to work within teams such as the secondary locality teams, primary services and the Neurodevelopmental Team.</p>
<p>The S-CAMHS service uses the Choice and Partnership Approach as its model of service delivery and when working in secondary locality teams, the post-holder will be required to provide clinical sessions for Partnership work within the locality team, working with young people with a variety of mental health difficulties, and their families. </p>
<p>They will carry a clinical caseload and will be encouraged to develop skills in a range of psychological approaches (e.g. CBT, ACT, systemic). There will also be opportunities to assist with projects within Psychology in S-CAMHS. </p>

  <p>We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Assistant Psychologist based in our Schools In-Reach/Primary Mental Health Worker Service, in S-CAMHS, Hywel Dda University Health Board. The vacancy is full time, permanent and is based in the Carmarthenshire Team. Part time hours may be considered. It is one of three Assistant Psychologist posts in the service. These posts have been developed to support the Clinical Psychology input into the Schools In-Reach/Primary Mental Health Worker Service. </p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>The successful applicant will be provided with regular clinical supervision from a qualified clinical psychologist in the service, as well as opportunities for regular peer reflective practice. They will carry their own clinical caseload and will be encouraged to develop skills in a range of psychological approaches (eg CBT, ACT, systemic). They will provide psychological assessment and intervention for young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, via individual and group interventions, thereby giving the opportunity to work within the clinical cycle. An essential aspect of the SIRS service is to provide consultation and training on mental health problems in young people, to professionals in Education. The post holder will be asked to contribute to this as their skills and knowledge develop. There will also be opportunities for service development and research activities within the SIRS/PMHW Service and also within Psychology in the wider S-CAMHS. We have close links with the South Wales Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training Programme. West Wales is a beautiful place to live, especially for those who enjoy outdoor activities.</p>

<p>MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Clinical</p> <p>To provide a specialist psychology service input for all young people and the Branas Isaf integrated team.To provide specialist psychology input supporting and promoting positive mental health and emotional well-being.To contribute to psychological assessment of individuals and groups, for example through direct observation, psychometric testing, semi-structured interviews and writing appropriate reports.To be actively involved in the weekly Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) consult team meetings and contribute to monitoring fidelity to the treatment model.To assist qualified psychologists/psychotherapists to carry out prescribed interventions with individuals or in groups (including facilitation of the DBT skills group).Undertaking supportive work with carers, family members, staff and other professionals.To contribute to the management of risk, under supervision.To ensure appropriate confidentiality.To engage flexibly with clients and other members of the integrated team at Branas Isaf, families and multi-agency team to promote constructive working relationships.To liaise with Registered Managers, education staff and other members of the multi-agency team, including external professionals.To produce assessments and other reports as required, under supervision.To represent the clinical team within external and in-house meetings (where appropriate).To undertake any other duties commensurate to your grade and ability.</p> <p>Teaching, training and supervision</p> <p>To prepare and participate in supervision on a weekly basis with a qualified practitioner psychologist.To undertake all work under the supervision of a qualified practitioner psychologist.To take responsibility for ongoing learning and development, including full participation in clinical and line management supervision and appraisals, in order to maximise own potential and continue to meet the demands of the post.To contribute to the development and delivery of teaching, training and support of other staff at Branas Isaf.To participate in external and internal training as deemed appropriate, including relevant Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) training events.To engage flexibly with clients and other members of the integrated team at Branas Isaf, families and multi-agency team to promote constructive working relationships.To attend regular team meetings and CPD days.</p> <p>Research and service evaluation</p> <p>To assist in the design and implementation of research, service evaluation or audit activities.To undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries, using IT and statistical packages.To undertake database searches for literature and research papers to inform evidence-based practice for the clinical team.</p> <p>General</p> <p>To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the post holder's manager.To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing in accordance with professional codes of practice of the British Psychological Society and Board policies and procedures.To adhere to Branas Isaf codes of conduct and policies, as well as legislation relevant to the organisation and job role.Competence in the use of internet systems and information technology is essential.All employees of Branas Isaf and Care Tech are legally responsible for all records held, created or used as part of their employment including clients, corporate and administrative records whether paper based or electronic and also including emails.
