<p>The Psychological Skills Service is a Trauma informed service, acknowledging that, the majority of clients referred to the service have experienced some form of trauma in their lives.</p>
<p>The Psychological Skills Service (PSS) is a service for people who experience significant difficulties with their mental health, whilst also managing to keep themselves safe and relatively well without significant support from services.</p>
<p>We're offering an exciting opportunity for a compassionate, motivated Therapeutic Support Worker to join the Psychological Skills Service (PSS). This role involves delivering trauma-informed formulation-driven support work and brief psychological and occupational interventions.</p>
<p>PSS supports individuals with significant mental health challenges who are able to maintain relative wellbeing without intensive service input. Many may have tried therapies like CBT in the past and found them less helpful than expected.</p>

  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>As a therapeutic support worker, you will fill an important position offering psychologically and occupationally informed support and psychological skills to a group of people previously described as "not ready" for psychological therapy.</p>
<p>In our service rather than exclude we think creatively about what type or level of therapy a person can use. The support work will be based on a psychological, trauma informed formulation that will guide how you work with the service user and help them achieve a variety of things including: physical safety and stability, learn skills to help with symptoms that affect them leaving the house/ interacting with others, teaching stabilization strategies, and strengthening important social and emotional resources. Work will be a mixture of face to face and online.</p>
<p><strong>Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence* and have use of a vehicle. You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs. We are looking for someone who is able to lead the clinical and admin staff in a very busy, demanding service, achieving an effective balance between management and support. The role is permanent, but we would be willing to consider secondment for any internal applicants.</p> <p>The successful candidate will need to hold a degree and must have either a core profession that is accredited with a suitable governing body or have an equivalent qualification as a psychological therapist.</p> <p>The role will involve providing the day-to-day operational management of the team, including offering supervision to all staff and delivering the team meeting. There is an expectation of managing budgets and resources as well as organising staff recruitment. The role will involve being responsible for health and safety in the team base.</p> <p>The successful candidate will need to hold exceptional self-management and organisational skills and be confident in directing the team. Good IT skills and understanding of data are essential to the role. There is a school (Home Tree School) on site to support the educational needs of the young people.</p> <p>Job Role</p> <p>We are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified Clinical Psychologists (NHS band 78a equivalent posts to join our team, and can offer a varied and rewarding work in a number of contexts - with an opportunity to help to continue to shape the service and make further improvement.</p> <p>We are keen to hear from qualified psychologists who are interested in working with children and young people with mental health problems, those who have experienced trauma and other adverse Childhood experiences, including Looked After Children. Ideally you will be confident to work independently as a Clinical Psychologist under supervision of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and within a multidisciplinary team that includes Psychiatry, OT, Nursing, Teachers. You will be confident to supervise, train and oversee the work of others to improve psychologically informed practices within the home.</p> <p>The post is advertised for a maximum of 32 hours part time, flexible and week days only.
