Join the team at Gateway Recovery Centre as a Consultant Psychiatrist&nbsp;providing care and treatment for men and women in&nbsp;specialist inpatient, rehabilitation and low secure settings.&nbsp;
Gateway Recovery Centre is situated in Widnes, close to Liverpool, Manchester, Chester and surrounding areas. There are excellent transport links, which allows the town to be reachable for those travelling across the Northwest.
Gateway Recovery Centre has 72 beds spread across 6 wards.3 wards constitute the women’s service with one acute ward and two level 2 rehabilitation ward for women with high support needs. The other 3 wards provide care to men in specialist rehabilitation unit for men with ASD (Cedar ward), low secure ward (Dove ward) and a rehabilitation ward for older men with complex mental health needs and physical health comorbidities (Ash Ward).
The team consists currently of 4.5 consultants, and you will deliver clinical care to a dedicated caseload. You will be supported by a practice nurse and an enhanced GP service to meet patients’ physical healthcare needs. You will have support from a dedicated supervisor and a medical secretarial team. Specialty doctor cover is available for the acute ward.
You will have access to excellent CPD, and the support of a large peer group of enthusiastic and high-calibre consultants from varied sub-specialties.
Your responsibilities will include:

 <li>Providing RC and consultant psychiatrist input to inpatients </li>
 <li>0.5 wte will carry a case load of 8-12 patients depending on the nature of the service</li>
 <li>Participation in a low frequency second- on-call rota for the region&nbsp;</li>
 <li>Assessing new&nbsp;referrals to ensure that the service meets the needs of those who are admitted.</li>
 <li>Providing leadership to the clinical team&nbsp;and contributing to clinical governance and service development</li>
 <li>Maintaining good relationships with external agencies such as community teams and commissioning bodies.</li>

To be successful in your application, you will need:

What you will be doing:
You will&nbsp;provide specialist care and treatment to adult male patients who are detained under the Mental Health Act (1983). Our service users, many of whom have Acquired Brain Injury and forensic histories, require long term treatment and rehabilitation and present with multiple difficulties, including high risk behaviour and complex care needs. St Mary's hospital offers a breadth of opportunity and experience for clinical work, &nbsp;with a medium secure and a low secure ward; a Level 2 rehabilitation ward; and an Acute service. This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week.&nbsp;
In collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and under the direction and supervision of the Joint Heads of Psychology, you will support the delivery of psychology services across St Mary’s Hospital. In the absence of the Joint Heads, you will act as the primary point of contact between the psychology department and the senior management team.
As the Forensic/ Clinical/ Counselling/ Neuro Psychologist you will have active participation in multidisciplinary team work, ensuring that our service users are fully engaged in their care pathways. It also includes supporting clinical team efforts through both direct interventions and the facilitation of staff training programmes. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of new initiatives and ways of working within the service and working in partnership with both internal and external agencies to enhance treatment pathways for service users.
There is a strong emphasis on teamwork, supervision and CPD, with support from a regional network of Psychologists.
As a&nbsp;Forensic/ Clinical/ Counselling/ Neuro&nbsp;Psychologist you will be:

 <li>Providing psychological assessments of patients based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological (and neuropsychological) tests, self-report measures, rating scales direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the patient’s care.</li>
 <li>Formulating plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of acquired brain injury and forensic risk designed around the patient’s needs, and employing methods unpinned by relevant evidence-based practice and appropriate conceptual frameworks.</li>
 <li>Implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals within and across teams.</li>
 <li>Acting as psychologist for a ward and/or group of patients as directed by the Joint Heads of Psychology.</li>
 <li>Developing and managing groupwork programmes and innovative therapeutic approaches and ensuring that appropriate outcome measures are in place.</li>

To be successful, you'll have:

What we're looking for We are seeking to appoint two new lecturers, one in developmental psychology and one in forensic psychology, to contribute to our BPS accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will be responsible for the delivery of a range of high-quality teaching materials and associated student assessment activities and will contribute to the planning, design and development of modules and programmes and curriculum changes. You will play a key role in establishing an independent research portfolio within the parameters of the school/department research portfolio, and engage in relevant research, professional and knowledge exchange activities as well as having input into administrative duties as required. We are seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals with a PhD in Psychology or equivalent qualification/experience relevant to the discipline. You will bring strong research and/or applied experience, along with the ability to teach forensic psychology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures, tutorials, seminars and the supervision of postgraduate research. A dedication to delivering an exceptional student experience, combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, will be essential in supporting our continued development and growth.
