We are recruiting for a Band 6 Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) as our YJS Senior Mental Health Practitioner. The Youth Justice Service (YJS) is a multi-disciplinary team which works with children and young people aged 10 -17 years old who have offended and are made subject to a range of community and custodial disposals. The YJS Senior Mental Health Practitioner will support children and young people by providing time-limited interventions, who are known to the YJS and are experiencing mental health and wellbeing difficulties, as part of an overall plan to reduce their risk of re-offending, harm to others and vulnerability. This may include signposting or liaison with other service providers, and establishing exit strategies (via onward referral) to ensure ongoing support is available where it is deemed necessary. You will be supported by being co-managed by both CAMHS and the YJS manager, receive regular supervision and access to a wide range of professionals including mental health nurses, social workers, OT, associate practitioners, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, family therapist, CBT therapists, Creative Arts Therapists and consultant psychiatrists. YJS Senior Mental Health Practitioner

Overview Job summary You will provide a specialist and timely response for people who may be experiencing a mental health support need or crisis, facilitating improved patient outcomes and experience. You will identify a person's needs, enabling appropriate advice, signposting and onward referrals to services. This will be via face-to-face assessments in practice and telephone triage. There will be support and supervision from the wider team, including oversight from Lead Practice Clinicians. BrisDoc practice services specialise in providing high quality and accessible health care to vulnerable, marginalised and excluded groups. Clinicians will need to be focused on improving health inclusion and removing barriers to holistic healthcare. Clinicians will be expected to consult and liaise with other community-based HCPs such as GPs, Paramedics, Pharmacists, and Nurses about patient management, admission avoidance and, where necessary, admission into secondary care. While working autonomously and potentially in isolation, the post holder will work collaboratively with the wider clinical team to support individual patients and the delivery of the right care first time. Main duties of the job Clinical Undertake a full range of activities required to deliver a comprehensive mental health assessment in an emergency situation, to those who may be distressed/ in crisis.
