You will be working at The Farndon Unit, a service that provides care for women with a diagnosis of severe and enduring mental illness and/or personality disorder. We have low secure and rehabilitation services within the hospital which the candidate will be supporting. There is a strong emphasis on teamwork and CPD at The Farndon Unit where you will have access to a range of training opportunities to move your career forward. You will have experience and knowledge in carrying a designated caseload, including assessing service users with complex needs, and designing and delivering specialist psychological treatment with an emphasis on trauma informed care.</p>
<p><strong>As Psychologist you will:</strong></p>
<ul>
    <li>Work therapeutically with service users with complex presentations, undertaking assessments using a broad range of structured psychometric and semi structured clinical methods.</li>
    <li>Formulating and implementing plans for specialist psychological treatment or management of patients’ mental health needs based on a multi-factorial psychological understanding and current evidence based best practice.</li>
    <li>Contributing to MDT care planning and review.</li>
    <li>Take a key role in Psychology service developments, providing an evidence-based approach to new clinical initiatives.</li>
    <li>Be aware of new and innovative approaches to managing complex cases and new service developments and promote these effectively within the organisation.</li>
    <li>Contributing to professional development within the psychology team.</li>
    <li>Contributing to audit and research as directed by the Lead Psychologist.</li>
    <li>Maintaining high standards of care in all areas of practice and in accordance with the HCPC Standards of Proficiency; HCPC Standards of conduct, performance and ethics; BPS Code of Ethics and Conduct; and company policies and procedures.</li>
    <li>Being professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical work and care.</li>
    <li>Support in the development and delivery of training programmes to aid the development of staff teams in a given service area.</li>
    <li>Providing clinical supervision to Assistant Psychologists, as directed by the Lead Psychologist.</li>

<p><strong>To be successful in this role, you'll need:</strong></p>

    <li>BPS accredited and HCPC approved Doctorate.</li>
    <li>HCPC Registered.</li>
    <li>Chartered Member of the BPS</li>
    <li>Experience of working with clients with complex needs that are relevant to the population. Particularly with a trauma informed approach.</li>
    <li>Competence in assessing, formulating, and working therapeutically with service users with mental illness and/or personality disorder.</li>
    <li>Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies, formulation models and relevant risk and clinical assessments.</li>
    <li>Knowledge and understanding of working with trauma.</li>

You will be working alongside a multidisciplinary team offering personalised assessment and recovery-based treatment pathways, including a trauma specific pathway, for women with complex care needs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Our Community First Responder (CFR) scheme is a life-saving partnership with local communities. As authorised volunteers CFRs form teams across Yorkshire to help reduce the number of pre-hospital deaths.</p><p>Our CFRs are trained to provide life-saving treatment to patients in the vital first few minutes of an emergency until our ambulance crew arrives. If effective treatment is provided quickly, lives can be saved and disability reduced. This is especially true for heart attacks and medical conditions which have caused someone to lose consciousness.</p><p>When a 999 call is received in our Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), an ambulance response is dispatched. At the same time, a CFR on-call in the area can be alerted and asked to attend the incident to ensure that help reaches the patient as quickly as possible.</p><p>As our volunteers are based within the community, they may only be a minute or two away from a medical emergency and very often their role is to simply provide vital reassurance to patients and their families until the ambulance crew arrives. However, in extreme cases, such as a cardiac arrest, they can perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) to try and restart someone’s heart, which can potentially save their life.</p><p>Anyone who wants to help their community can become a CFR.</p><p>No previous medical experience or training is necessary, but you will need a caring attitude and be able to cope with potentially distressing situations.</p><p>You need to:</p><ul><li>be aged 18 or over</li><li>hold a valid, full UK driving licence, with no more than three penalty points</li><li>have access to a vehicle</li><li>be prepared to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service Check</li><li>be prepared to undertake occupational health screening</li><li>be prepared to undertake our 4 day CFR course.   <p>We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic clinical psychologist/ counselling psychologist/ psychotherapist/CBT psychotherapist to join us in the South Community Mental Health Team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain significant experience of clinical leadership in a changing healthcare system, working as part of an experienced, supportive multidisciplinary team. You will provide senior leadership and line management to a range of psychological professionals including peer recovery workers. You will also offer a psychological service to service users and their families alongside indirect clinical and consultation work to the team and other services. There will also be involvement in supporting evidence-based therapeutic treatments such as structured clinical management. You will need to have had significant experience of work with adults with complex presentations, including psychosis, bipolar disorder, personality difficulties and complex trauma.</p> <p>You will possess an enthusiasm for working productively with multidisciplinary teams and supporting teams through change. The post involves carrying out highly complex psychological assessments and interventions, and leading and advising on clinical pathways for people with complex needs.
